It seems that the virus numbers are spiking in more rural counties of Iowa. Is that indeed the case or are all counties seeing increases? Mask wearing is a lot more prevalent in the metro area compared to areas outside the Des Moines area.

Schools have been open all over the state, but then closed down soon after cases popped up.

Will the people that willingly put themselves in position to contract Covid willingly not go to the hospital? It's only fair.

Bigger protests were in summer and college campuses reuniting is 6 weeks past so the blame has somewhere else to go. For example, the full bars and restaurants near were where I camped last weekend were definitely neither of those things.

Yes, hospitals are dangerous places. Unless you have a clear and obvious trauma I avoid the places like the plague.

I think our numbers wouldn't be so bad if you took out northwest iowa.

I just visited Kansas City. They were "kinda" strict about masks going into a business. Kinda a joke. Like wearing a mask for 5 seconds to order and then sitting down to eat and taking it off is going to do anything. I assume the businesses were harassed with the threat of fines. Maybe half of people were wearing them outside, and no I did not either.

I would think it would naturally be delayed in rural counties just like it was delayed in rural states. Maybe its just finally getting there (though I would guess mask wearing is less as well).

Aren't those school situations with mitigation efforts?

And is there concrete, absolute evidence that people are not contagious at that rate? Or is it more of 'may or probably' not be contagious type of language?

From what I have read from doctors, 30 cycles (or less) is enough to be considered sick or contagious. We're testing to 37 or 40 cycles, which will catch minute amounts of virus that are totally inconsequential (from what I understand, each cycle amplifies the amount of virus present (as in, 1 copy to 2, 2 copies to 4, 4 copies to 8)).

The statistics drawn from that level of sensitivity really aren't helpful or useful (particularly when they're not even reporting the level at which the positive was apparent).

I can agree with that bolded statement, though my particular doctorate isn't in medicine.

Are "Doctors all over" saying that masks are completely ineffective concerning COVID-19 like some of those same Irish docs mentioned in the article? One positive- at least I didn't see any mention of demon sex from any of them in the article.

A mixed bag. I think most of the ones I've listened to are less concerned with the mask debate, and more concerned with health care effects on the other side of the ledger. Most have said they aren't terribly effective, but better than nothing.
