We are clearly the better team. On both sides of the ball. Special teams might be a push. If we do not lose the TO battle, we'll win comfortably. I'm still going-- Cyclones 28 Cajuns 20.
I think we’ll be as vanilla as we usually are in week 1.Not sure if its the opponent or just the expectation of starting a season slow
My personal take is that ISU suffocates their offense, namely making them one dimensional.
The are from the south, what do you expect? They're pretty confident. We just seem to be keeping quiet and focused.
Take the running game away and make their lack of experience on the outside beat us.Which one dimension do we make them take? Just running?
We were very, very obviously playing abnormally conservative against UNI last season until crunch time, and still almost lost with that. We did not approach that game as we did for conference games. It looks okay in that statbook, but terrible on the scoreboard -- that kind of game will not win against UL.What do you mean by the bold statement? I do not remember us screwing around with UNI last year.
We should do all these things, but I anticipate we're in for a dogfight. I am not quite to the level of predicting that we are going to lose this one, but this is not going to be one of our easier games.

I know they are supposed to be played but I'll be mildly surprised if bowl games are actually played, outside of the playoff. Can the bowls afford to pay teams to go? The teams can't afford ANYTHING on their own dime so TV revenue will have to pay the freight. I've spent 0 time considering this...cyclonefanatic.com
Lot of guys on those boards expect us to lose, more than I anticipated.
I expected about 50/50, maybe a touch more to them, and a lot of close game calls. Not like 75% them and many by more than 1 TD.The only time I can think of where a majority of the opposing fans expected to lose to us was the Drake game in 2018.
The talks of wearing down our defense is amusing

Why not? He’s back to full health now, and CMC has repeatedly talked about the added dimension a running quarterback adds to an attack.I'd like to see the return of run-threat Purdy, too, but I won't get my hopes up.
He was full health at this point last season, too, but his running threat was minimally-used.Why not? He’s back to full health now, and CMC has repeatedly talked about the added dimension a running quarterback adds to an attack.
The only way Brock isn’t running in this game is if we don’t need him to.

They live in the heart of SEC territory where it's preached that there's no defense in the Big 12. The misconception is actually pretty much everywhere, including the majority of the state of Iowa. The talks of wearing down our defense is amusing

I figure that's true for a lot of non-Big-12 fans. Apparently 3 straight years above .500 isn't enough to get us noticed. We're still "Iowa State" to a lot of people.
That seems bold for a team that has never beaten a P5 program, unless I'm mistaken. Thought I read that somewhere. But man, you really want to avoid being the first.Lot of guys on those boards expect us to lose, more than I anticipated.
