Iowa has been heading back up in cases hospitalizations and deaths and given the skyrocketing in cases the hospitalizations and deaths are likely to follow the same trend a couple weeks delayed.
For those going to the games this year, just in case something does happen Covid wise, could you put me in your will to take over your football tickets? I would hate to see all those points and seat locations go to waste. TIA!!

Instantly closed their borders to Chinese travelers, yes.Taiwan instantly closed their borders to Chinese travelers. They essentially missed the wave. So it wasnt the silver bullet of masks. They were restricting flights from China in 2019. They had highly efficient quarantine procedures for entrants. Ever heard of living on an island?

Even though I think it's odd for a national hotspot state to have this development...you can easily argue it's unfair to compare ISU having 25k fans to NHL/MLB/NBA having zero combined. The situations are pretty different.
NHL and NBA being inside right away make them a different animal.
Even the MLB's shortened season is 40-50 home games with several games every week. That's a ton more risk for community spread than 5 games spread over 3 months. I think for MLB to have fans at a similar risk to what ISU is trying do do they'd need to limit fans to something like 1000 per game...to do that they'd probably have to charge a premium price to select few and that's horrible optics that are worse than just having no fans.
It'll be really interesting to see what NFL does.
NFL stadiums allowing 25k and trying to stop tailgating really wouldn't be much different than what ISU is doing.

I'm saying the "Deaths are down YEAH!!!" crowd in June were morons. Nothing you're showing me there contradicts that.
We also know (you are well informed unlike others who have ignorance as an excuse) a lot of that improvement is the Northeast and I was talking about Iowa in terms of having massive events during a spike.

That looks like a state that is on its way to the worst shape it has been in.
I wish the numbers suggested Iowa should totally open up. I want a packed JTS which is why I was so heartbroken that half the country raged against masks the entire spring and most of the summer.

My point is we don't know its a spike because measured positive cases haven't been accurate for the entire pandemic. Could it be a spike? Possibly, but reported cases aren't the metric to show that. Hospitalizations are far below what they were in April in the state.
No, I was talking about Iowa. Hospitalizations are about 75% of the peak in April/May and ICU is about 55% of the peak in April/May.
