Said the station is reviewing seasons from the last 15 years to figure out what season to run when the normal season don’t happen. Basically gonna run it like it was happening live every Saturday Including gameday from that year.

Is that insane or what? I’m grateful for ESPN throwing content up for us to feel ‘normal’ But it tells me that football isn’t happening if what your friend says is true.

In case you can't wait until November or just need an emotional boost in these dire times.

I would guess that this season doesnt happen, but regardless i think its a good move to be prepared to have something to air, and it takes time to compile everything back together so they have to prepare this just because they don't know

ESPN doesn't have any more of a magic crystal ball than anyone else. It's a contingency plan.

I'd rather they just have the best week of each year. Week 1 of 2016, week 2 of 2013.. etc. Something like that

If no season happens, espn is going to have a lot more to worry about than which seasons and old games to air.

Or even just do a 'best of week 1, best of week 2' each weekend. Some of those early weeks especially, there's not many good games

yeah they actually do. If you don’t think they are in touch with every confidence commissioner you are crazy. They have billions in the line. So yeah they have a way more crystal ball than everyone else

Yep. They should be all over planning something like this given the circumstances. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything in regards to the chances of the season taking place.

Unfortunately there are other trends that make that look less likely than a month ago. But it’s not over yet.

2007 is the clear and only answer here for a number of reasons:

First of all it had SEVEN weeks where the #2 lost, it was chaos week after week.
#1 lost FIVE times and in the same week as #2 THREE times
Big 10 Network Debuted Week 1, starting off with a sleeper of a game FCS Appalachian State at Michigan
Kansas outta nowhere as the only power team in the country with 1 loss
Tim Tebow stunted on all of us all season
Remember Hawaii and Colt Brennan shredding NCAA records?
Louisiana Monroe beat Nick Saban
Chip Kelly debuted at Oregon
Jim Harbaugh Debuted at Stanford
Chizek Coins
Juice Williams and Ron Zook of Illinois beat Ohio State
Birth of the SEC chant after LSU beat Ohio State in the championship

Also the amount of games in HD is an extra level because the year prior was ESPN3 being debuted and 2007 was when ESPNU was first broadcasted in HD.

It's the best choice and it's not even close

If ESPN did inside information that there wasn't going to be football they probably wouldn't be too happy that your friend is spilling the beans. They're going to be planning for many different scenarios I would imagine.

Who do you think has the power when it comes to whether or not football will be played? If there isn't a football season it won't have anything to do with a decision by a conference commissioner. There isn't a chance in hell they will cancel a season if state and local governments are allowing sports to be played.

Yeah. Sounds like a project they gave some VP’s son to work on during his remotely located internship.

Fox KC does that with Royals playoff games this summer
