97-98 Bulls Documentary (The Last Dance)

Hoiberg was on the 98 Pacers team although I don't think he made the doc

I'm pretty sure Hoiberg (with shaved head) can be seen jumping up and down from the bench when Jordan misses that last second shot.

I enjoyed Jordan but I was definitely pulling for the Pacers and Jazz those last couple Bulls championships given they had Hoiberg and Hornacek. Has a Cyclone ever won an NBA championship?

He was someone that just wouldn't go away, and really that Pacers team was like that, and imo they got it from Larry Bird. I thought he did a heck of a job coaching.
Fred has said he wasn't much of a coach at all; that assistants Carlisle and Harter did all the coaching.

To be honest, the first that came to mind was Justin Hamilton (if you consider him a Cyclone). He played for the Heat when they lost in the finals from the looks of it.

Reggie was more like that second tier of stars below the likes of MJ, Shaq, Hakeem, Malone, Barkley and Ewing. I thought Miller was more in the range of the guys like Stockton, Pippen, Payton, Kidd, etc.

That 97-98 Pacers team had a good roster, but based on where the rest of the roster was in their careers and the type of guys they had, it was really Miller, I suppose Smits and a bunch of good role players. They didn't need another superstar, but certainly another guy that could score. Basically Miller, Smits could score, at that point Mullin couldn't play big minutes and was just a catch and shoot guy. Jackson, D, Davis, A. Davis, McKey, and Rose were good players but weren't scorers.

The problem with the Bulls on the second run was that even though MJs physical abilities weren't the same, his head was better and Pippen was in his prime. They had potentially the two best players in the league on the perimeter. It was just a nightmare. It would have been like LeBron and Durant on the same team with whoever the best rebounder and interior defender is right now.

I looked up his PER from 97-98 and it was similar to current day Devin Booker and Zach Lavine. He seemed like a bigger star than that.

Reggie's legend is inflated because of his mouth and the fact he was one of the first guys to play that style of offense.

You go to a doctor when you have food poisoning?

I guess I don’t understand the motivation of lying, maybe some exaggeration. I do understand why you’d prefer the flu story leaking compared to food poisoning though.

They said they called the team doctor and he looked at him. As to why 5 guys delivered the pizza the only thing I could come up with was I think a Sunday night, maybe everything was closed or ready to close. So they dropped Jordan's name to get the pizza made and delivered that late at night.

"MJ’s driver, George Koehler, says it was “four or five guys.” Fite says it was just him and his delivery driver, and he didn’t even have five guys working the restaurant that late a night."

So this was all made up.

Wouldn't be surprised if 2 turned into four over time because it is a good story and people exaggerate. Or if there was people working at the hotel that came up with the pizza guys just to try and get a look at jordan.

Fred torched MJ with 20 seconds left.

And my oh my, that Wizards starting 5? Woof.

The bulls starting 5 wasn't much better. Starting backcourt of Ron Mercer and Kevin Ollie. LoL. Even at his age at this time MJ was probably the best player of the 10 that started the game. Only one you could maybe make a case for is Artest.

How many of us would call up our buddies to tell him that we were delivering a pizza to Michael Jordan . . . and tell them that they couldn't come along?

I thought so too, but at the end of the Wizards game video, it looks like Hoiberg is wearing #23.

Wish I could find a better video, but here you go:
