97-98 Bulls Documentary (The Last Dance)

Lots of meritless discussions about defense "then vs now" stemming from this documentary.
Defense is just as good now: the players now are just better skilled shooters, shoot more 3's, and play at a faster pace.
Possessions per game:
1990: 98
2000: 93
2020: 100
3 point attempts per game:
1990: 6
2000: 14
2020: 34
Number of players in the league shooting better than 35% from 3 point range:
1990: 36 (27 teams)
2000: 70 (29 teams)
2020:113 (30 teams)
Even considering the above the defensive scoring is nearly identical to 30 years ago.
Points scored per 100 possessions, defense:
1990: 108 allowed
2000: 104 allowed
2020: 110 allowed

I believe Isaiah Thomas called him a fish when he was switched to MJ on defense and MJ begged for the ball and scored on him.
Agree no way. Plus: did Jordan go see a doctor? Was it diagnosed as "food poisoning?" I guess I missed that.
Oh and also no mention of where it was ordered from...wonder if MJ's wary of a slander/libel suit. Kinda sure the name of the pizzeria would be remembered, for something that big.

I looked up his PER from 97-98 and it was similar to current day Devin Booker and Zach Lavine. He seemed like a bigger star than that.

I guess I don’t understand the motivation of lying, maybe some exaggeration. I do understand why you’d prefer the flu story leaking compared to food poisoning though.
Reggie was on the downside of his prime at that point. They gave the impression he was some upstart but he was like 33 in that finals and was only 2 years younger than Jordan.
I suppose he got more attention because of the trash talk and coming up with some clutch games and shots, so maybe he was overrated. Dude is a hall of famer for a reason though.
Costas sign off after 98 finals. Pretty much spot on about his take on sports after this with a few exceptions (Spurs with their core of Duncan, Parker, Ginobli, Shaq and Kobe in LA, Brady and Belichick in New England to name a few.)

And my oh my, that Wizards starting 5? Woof.
He was someone that just wouldn't go away, and really that Pacers team was like that, and imo they got it from Larry Bird. I thought he did a heck of a job coaching.
