the problem is that the state could easily be out of control. Those Tyson’s workers don’t just stay at Tyson’s 24 hours a day. They go home to spouses that may very well be CNAs.

I don't think that's a fair assumption, that the state could be out of control. The metrics, at least for now, show the opposite.

And I contend the metrics are incomplete at best due to our lack of testing.

We may find out in three weeks.

My fingers are crossed that this sun/heat thing is valid and things taper off but that's not reliable.

I think some helpful context (that I don't have) would be whether similar plants are operating in states with tighter controls, or operating but differently, or how that's going on.

I suspect we'd find that Reynolds' general resistance probably made this all more likely to happen, but I won't pretend to have those facts right now.

I'm not even saying that she should have shut them down from the start, but she sure should have been on their ass from the start. Both her and her Public Health person have said that they think Tyson's is acting in good faith. Only a real idiot (so I guess that makes sense with Kim) would think Tyson's would act in good faith.

To a degree, I agree with you. Deaths and ICU bed usage doesn't lie and those numbers are substantially more accurate. Even if 25% of Iowans are infected, a very tiny percentage is in bad shape. That would be a good sign.

Because I need more to do and this sounds twistable, I'm gonna pretend here that you're saying it would be a good sign for 25% of Iowans to be in bad shape. Monster.

Yes, right now our actions seem to be working. But it hasn't stopped yet. Again, there seems to be a pretty substantial outbreak happening in the meat packing plants and you seem to think that because it is only in the meat packing plants, it is OK. I contend that it will likely spread.

There are many stories like this- of DHS or other federal agencies seizing PPE and tests headed for the states. What are they doing with it? And if the states have primary responsibility why don’t they have priority?

There's a lot of people out there that want to believe this is over so needing supplies would mean that it isn't.

There's already been advice given to go against guidelines that were laid out for people to follow in order to slowly open up. Are they going to allow for antibody tests to be available? Widespread testing?

This doesn't bode well for the fall.
