Two non-shooting big men at the same time... not sure that ends well.

Not sure I want to see either of them defending on the perimeter.

Solomon is at his best on the block, using that big body to create or deny space to the other team, and Conditt is at his best looking for blocks.

Those advantages are completely gone if they are guarding a 4 on the wing.

Solo upped his perimeter defense dramatically late in the season. Not to the point where you want him out there with a guard too often, but enough that he could guard a stretch 4 pretty effectively. But yeah, he doesn't present a perimeter threat on offense.

So how many D1 programs have 3 players announce they are transferring?
There's a few of them. Wichita State being one. Their players leaving are a lot better than ours. Maybe we should flip flop.

Indeed.

It sounds like Johnson or one of the newcomers, either Foster or Blackwell or maybe Dubar right now before adding anybody, is going to need to be that guy to be serviceable on defense *and* offense against big wings at the 4.

Solomon and Conditt just need to go hard and split 20/20 at the 5.

Solo’s mid range and nearly 80% FT shooting are signs he could develop a perimeter jumper. Hopefully it will come this year rather in some
European league sometime.

The bad thing is we recruited them in the first place when they don’t develop very much.
Right, but going back in time is not an option, and just stating "fire Prohm" on a message board doesn't do much.

The current position the program is in isn't going change, and given the option I would much rather Prohm go out and get new players. They're not all going to be great, but if one is really good, and another is serviceable, then the team is better next year.

What's concerning is that these players were either not good coming out of high school, or that the coaches couldn't develop them.

You can't claim "last straw" after Terrance Lewis transfers. Anybody that does is just doing it for shock value.
Evidently somebody did. Everybody has different tolerance levels.

Quite honestly, I’m surprised he lasted in the program this long the way he was treated with playing time. Best of luck to him.

He's had multiple years with plenty of opportunities to carve out more playing time with all the injuries and attrition we have had and he still could not find a way to play with some consistency. He plays piss poor defense, has mental lapses during the game - see his last play as a Cyclone as a prime example where he had what should of been the game winning dunk turn into giving up the game winner because he was too busy flexing to the crowd instead of getting back on defense to stop the ball, and offensively he has been terribly inconsistent with his production as well. A 4 star recruit 3 years in on a 20 loss team has no one but himself to blame with the results we saw when he was given minutes. On a team desperate for offense he couldn't even become a 1 dimensional sharpshooter shooting just .325 from 3pt this year which sadly was also a career high for him.

I don't see him or Griffin as huge losses, both were disappointments as 4 star recruits. Having them for depth would have been nice but I doubt either were going to take a huge step forward and become a Big 12 caliber starter next season. Grill is the one that I think hurts because he reminds you so much of Matt Thomas. Plays hard nosed defense and just needs a little time to develop and gain confidence in his shot and we started to see some glimpses of that late in the season when he got more minutes.

Fire prohm tomorrow
I wouldn't be heartbroken, but we both know it ain't happen. It seems we have two options as fans: bring in as many good players as they can, hope a couple are big 12 quality, and the team pushes for a tournament bid. Or, hope the team falls on its face, and Prohm gets fired next spring. I would rather have a winning season.

So, you are happy with the combo's CSP put on the court last year? Pathetic. Neither has to be a great shooting perimeter - you can still play with 2 solid post defenders/shot blockers but your guards can't play "Look Out" defense like Nixon, Haliburton, Jackson and Bolton did all last year - half the time they looked like lamp posts out there.....Hope you enjoy another 20 loss season next year....
