Another kids say the darnedest things courtesy of LittleWx.

So he fell on the driveway leaving a friends house last night after putting his shoes on the wrong feat and literally a second after MrsWx told him to slow down. We had to stop at Drug Town quick and of course he wanted to go in. Since he fell he wanted Band Aids which we had at home. He ignored MrsWx saying that and walked right up to the teenage employee and said "Worker where are the band aids?" Then seemed innocent/hurt enough that the employee let him open a box and get one out.....

Went to the Twister movie site once in high school around 20 years ago.

It was basically a run down farm. We started to wonder if someone had just put up a sign as a joke.
I worked on the Twister set for a day. They had a few staff working out of the house but it was totally gutted. I worked cleaning up the site where they had filmed the tanker truck scene the day before. They were working on the system to make the pump house appear to disintegrate in the finale so that was pretty cool. They were also working on the system that made the fence move as the leads came running by to the barn. The barn was full of shops like the carpenter and props shops. If I remember correctly, they were originally going to have the house be destroyed by the twister as well but decided against it.

Mrs. Velo always gives me **** about working one whole day on that film every time it comes on.

Set up my first official exam accommodation today, and it reminded me why a dream of being at ISU forever would be awesome.

Sent an e-mail to that office to see what they would need from me.
They responded with a quick note and a link to the form.
Form filled out. They responded, confirming this for me, and one to the student to set up his appointment.
10 minutes, tops, with a delay because I left the document open when I tried to upload it.
Clean, professional, easy, and done.

Same thing in Ankeny takes ignored e-mails, some background reading, and then casually storming into the office, employing my command voice, and then watching everyone scurry to offer more support and options than I need (or going in professionally, being ignored and belittled, thinking arsonist thoughts, and then coming back for the successful command voice version).

Keep me forever, ISU. Forever.

Sad and glad I didn't go. Saw friends from Mpls dancing in the stands on Cy.TV but awoke to 6" or so of snow here and still snowing a little. Would have been a **** ride back up I-35 through the Bermuda Triangle, aka Albert Lea/Owatonna.

My parents drove up to the TC on Saturday to fly to Florida on Sunday. They have a favorite hotel in Eagan or somewhere where they can leave their vehicle for extended time and the hotel has a shuttle to the airport. Take the shuttle yesterday morning and my mom said the driver was nervous in the snow and almost hit another car. Did this driver just move to MN or something? Made it to FL, at Everglades National Park today. I ask my mom if my dad had heard the b-ball news. Of course he had. Even on vacation he keeps up with his Cyclones.

That's how it is in New Jersey. Kind of defeats the purpose of these huge gas stations with up to 20 pumps
What in the hell is the point of it? I am beyond confused. Maybe I don’t get out much but I had no clue this is some sort of a thing. Are people blowing up gas stations or why do we need this law?

So, we're curious about dance studios that don't focus on recitals.
Z's class has adopted a laser focus on recital in a few months, and that's pretty much turned her into an anxious little statue (so we end up staying home now).

Suggestions?

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anywhere here in town that doesn’t do recitals, but not sure how much emphasis there is on them. Have you done the parks & rec dance classes? Sorry, zero experience here. None of my 4 girls did dance.

My daughter did dance but my suggestion would be 90 minutes away, so thats not good.

How about the local Y? My nieces all danced and everyone of them had recitals. Does her instructor overemphasize it? Especially at Z's age it was more of a reward than a high stress thing except for the gals that were doing solos. My nieces were all nervous before the performance (day of) but seemed to have fun after it was done.

For the 45 minutes of class focused on dance, they're pretty much just doing recital practice now, which is really, really early for something months away. For our anxious kid, she literally just stands still and waits for it to end, so it's too much right now.

We're not talking nerves here. We're talking really powerful anxiety times.
There probably aren't. I've e-mailed one that some parents I know have trusted, so we'll see.

Basically, the kid wants to dance, but doesn't want that hanging over her head just yet.

Oregon was this way about 5 yrs ago @besserheimerphat is it still like that? I got my hand slapped when I went to fill up a car I had rented. (not really but told not to do it)

Don't see how they are going to put selfserve gas back in the tank after letting people pump their own forever.
But still, what. Is. The. Damn. Point??? Why can’t I get my own gas? I realize this is get of my lawn territory but I don’t care. This is stupid and I hate it

At the intro on the visit, they pair us down into groups. 3 in our walking tour group. Before When they asked for alums, it was me and this other guy that ended up in the same walking group. Turned out we graduated the same year and were both in the Ag college. Didn’t know each other though.
