Never said they didn’t want to win.
You implied they didn't have anything to play for.
Never said they didn’t want to win.
With 7 minutes left in the game the score was 50-50 -- clearly game in hand.I don’t know man.. when a buy team, who had never beaten a P5 team in its school’s history, looks as if they have the game in hand against you with 7 minutes left in the game, you got your ass kicked. Doesn’t matter if it’s a 15 point loss or a 1 point loss, it’s just as demoralizing.
Quite frankly they don’t, but you still play to win the game. You implied they didn't have anything to play for.
Tie game with 7 to go against a team who had never beaten a P5 team in school history? Sounds like a coaching failure on our part. With 7 minutes left in the game the score was 50-50 -- clearly game in hand.

I’ve spent plenty of time around college athletes. I’m pretty close friends with people who were and still are. I think you’re taking what I’m saying completely out of context. Nobody walks into an arena of a larger program and says “they’re better than us so why even try,” but at the same time, those smaller schools agree to play “buy” games because it supports them financially for the season, while at the same time knowing there’s a good chance they will get beat, but it only makes it sweeter if they walk out with a win.You have not spent much time around college athletes if you think that. To get to that level -- and yes this still applies for the FAMU types of the world -- there is quite the level of ego and competitiveness involved with the coaches and players.
The FAMU players DNGAF that their program had never beaten a high-major school previously. If you said that to any of them and received an honest and uncouth answer, it would probably be something like, "**** that, we are just going to go out there and be the first." Pride and ego alone are always something to play for.
I disagree that there is no path there. There is one.
I just depends on a lot of things to break right.
So let's just say Prohm misses the tournament this year (basically 100% going to happen), and next year there is tremendous progress, we are a bubble team and slightly miss the tournament, do you fire him because he didn't make the tournament?

So if next year we win 18 games and are on the outside looking in of the tournament, with a roster makeup of young talented guys, you'd fire Prohm?I agree. There is always a path. Here's the things that need to break right:
Foster needs to be good right away.
Conditt needs to become consistent.
Jackson or Bolton needs to become a full time ballhandler
Lewis or Johnson or one of the freshman needs to become a very solid starter
I'd put the odds of all those things happening very, very low. That's why I said I don't see a path I consider to be realistic. I mean we'll find out of course, and by this time next year we'll know what it's looking like.
My personal opinion? Yes. Would it happen? No, Pollard will keep coaches unless he literally has no other choice.
That WVU team from 2014 went 9-9 in the conference. Was that blowout better or worse than getting ran by 15 last in Morgantown by a team that went 4-14 in the Big 12?

Shayok needs to be good right away.
Wigginton needs to become consistent.
Babb or Wigginton needs to become a full time ballhandler
Solomon or Lard or one of the freshman needs to become a very solid starter

.
And to think not all of that broke right.........and we STILL won 23 games.
Kentucky is 17-5 and ranked #15 in the nation. They were #1 in the nation when they lost to Evansville, who is now 9-14. If I remember correctly, Kentucky did not have their best player out of the game when they lost.I can't believe we're debating the FA&M loss. Yes, the losses happen. They should never happen. It's a humongous red flag if they do happen. They just lost to Norfolk State by 28 last week, a team I assume didn't have a player of Tyrese on their team. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm getting some serious kg-cyclone vibes from this thread.

Still waiting to see if you can ever contribute anything to any discussion."I've spent plenty of time around college athletes. I'm pretty close friends with people who were and still are."
What a complete and utter tool.
Dude's real name has to be Rod.
