Sure, but you said Diallo would've made a big difference at ISU his Freshman year. There's a ton of real estate between being better than he was at Kansas (complete non-factor that couldn't get any minutes over a mediocre player) and making a big difference on a good ISU team.

I think Diallo would've helped us out tremendously at a spot we really really lacked in both 2015-2016 and 2016-2017, which was the 5 position. The 2015-2016 year we had Jameel McKay and... that's it. No one else was able to step into that back up role and Jameel was an absolute nightmare to deal with as a coach and some games played so bad we couldn't even play him. Having Diallo there would've helped round out the team and would've put Jameel into a place where he couldn't act like an idiot and still get playing time. McKay basically got to do what he wanted to because there wasn't anyone there that could compete for his position.

Who knows if Diallo would've stayed for another year, but I guarantee you him having to deal with the s*** that has been going down at KU regarding the NCAA and FBI put a damper on his college experience, not to mention him having to sit half the season.

Wow! I like how he scraps on D but it will be hard for him to get into any kind of offensive groove in Big 12 play.

Neither of those players have shown that they should get many minutes unless absolutely need be (foul trouble / injury). You cannot have guys on the floor that are a zero / negative impact on the offensive end of the floor. They just aren't comfortable right now.

Expecting guys at their rankings to be rotational players in the Big 12 as true freshmen is a bit much/too much for them, to be fair to Tre and Caleb.

Yeah they're not ready and that's fine. They're being asked to bite off a lot more than they can chew at the moment. This is where the guys leaving (THT, Wigginton, Lard) and the guys that haven't developed (Lewis / Griffin) have hurt us.

The season is not even close to being over. There are teams all of the time that start off crappy and then something clicks and the season completely changes. That's not going to happen without full commitment from the staff and the team. It's up to Coach Prohm to figure out how that happens and then it's up to his players to be able to do it. Like you said we have the talent, but how can we get that talent to blend correctly to win games? I'm not quite sure, but that's why we're paying Coach Prohm to do that job. And if Coach Prohm can't do that and these types of seasons keep happening, then a change will be made in regards to his job.

If Prohm can get this team to sniff the tournament this year and either somehow get in, or put together a deep run in the NIT, that will shine a ton of light on the program for the future to come.

I'm glad this team gets to go on the road and try to redeem itself against TCU. That isn't an impossible task, and probably less pressure than opening at home after 2 of our 3 last performances.

The fans should be fired up no matter what to face Kansas (who Prohm went 2-1 against last year), and then get another home game against a beatable Oklahoma team.

Get 2 our of 3 of those, and they are at least treading water again.

Agreed. I just wanted to mention it in the thread about Prohm, since so many have acted like he hasn't accomplished anything without Monte in uniform.

What exactly am I exaggerating here Erik? He's the one who specifically wrote Top 100 HS recruits. How many of those did we have coming into the roster that season? It might have been doable to bring in those types of players, as you suggest, but only if Fred had been willing to commit long term to ISU, which he clearly wasn't.

2013 had Morris and Thomas. 2014 and 2015 were Clayton Custer and the pu pu platter of 2015. Sure, maybe he "could" have brought in more top 100 players, but we're also talking about 2 of the best players in the history of the program in Morris and Niang, and we don't recruit a lot of those guys at all, regardless of the ranking.

Clayton could've developed into a very nice Big 12 player had he stayed all 4 years, but he didn't like the fit and wanted to get more playing time so he left. Obviously it worked out better than he could've even dreamed of.

...and we go from a disappointment to really salty.

That is the thing about basketball as compared to football. In basketball, one or two guys (either getting them or missing on them) can change everything. In football, it really is about building a program with depth and consistency. The need for competition in practice and depth for injury is so much higher in football than it is in basketball.

Jackson looks very uncomfortable on the offensive end. He seemed much more comfortable early in the season against much better competition. Not sure how many TOs he had vs. FAMU but almost every pass he made was stolen, deflected, or nearly stolen.

Because it is. Season is over 1/3 done. We know what this team is. I think it's a little funny to think we can just shuffle some pieces around and then it's an NCAA team.

This team is right there with KSU for the worst team in the conference. 6-12 in conference would be my expectation right now.

We'll see how this team bounces back from this loss. I think the Big 12 being down could mean a struggling team like us could sneak it's way back into the tournament. We obviously can't play like we just did and will have to play much better than we have so far, but it's not impossible. I also think making it far in the NIT wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for this team. Not up to standard that is Iowa State basketball but at least getting some post season experience to guys that will desperately need it later on.
