Are you familiar with the term castrato?
Huh. I learned a word today on CF. A real word this time. Will wonders never cease? (Thought about not posting that last line in case it got taken as too religious, especially right now. Posted it anyway.)

It's too bad that religion has become anathema to so many. I understand people's disappointment with hypocrisy in the church, but we all fall far short of perfection. Church exists as a place for us to apologize for our shortcomings, and to try to be better.

OK, sermon's over for today.

Had a brief rehearsal last night for the song I'm singing Christmas Eve at church. My accompanist, who is the organist at my church (and very knowledgeable about music) brought along music for a song I had never heard. It's by Michael Smith - a prolific writer and arranger of sacred and choral music - and it's called "All is Well".

Long story short, we went through it a couple times and decided to do that song instead of the one previously selected. It will be printed wrong in the bulletin, but I'll make a brief announcement beforehand.

Here's a link to the song on YouTube:

Smith writes some really peaceful music...

I did my count we're up to 6. I'll mostly be forecasting and probably won't see them anyway.

Was up to 3 with a visitor, now back down to 2, including me. And just a short time ago I realized I must have left my phone at home. Ordinarily wouldn't be concerned, but I had to email instead of text DD about boxes on the way. Text is faster, and little ones have no way of getting to that without Mom's permission.

Forgot to say that I am listening to Christmas music I haven't listened to in ages. It's part of my iTunes/Spotify list, but I usually skip it to listen to Mannheim Steamroller. This list is Blenders and a few others. MS and Trans-Siberian Orchestra are on the way.

I LOVE Mannheim. Our wedding was the week before Christmas, so we used their Christmas recordings for the "prequel" while the guests were arriving and getting settled.

Fun fact - the church organist we had at the time was a real "character" who liked to be in control of everything. I butted heads with her many times as a soloist regarding tempos and volume, and I was NOT going to let her dictate my wedding! Consequently, we didn't have an organist - we used bells for the entrance & exit, and a guitar-playing soloist during the ceremony.

One of my high school friends sang at our wedding. When we caught up at a class reunion several years ago (I've only been to 2) he joked that he was the opposite of Jesus because he'd been a pastor and then became a carpenter.
He's now a pastor again, and was involved with helping people in a small town along the Missouri during and after the flooding this summer. Facebook has helped a lot with me keeping up with those classmates for which I want to.

Not exactly sure.
Part time job boss doesn’t understand how work works when you are self employed. Finished the day up early but he started driving around aimlessly on the way back to town. Said he didn’t feel like going back to work so he’s killing time. I have no problem saying I was done for the day at 9:30 technically but didn’t get home until 1:30 since we had to take the scenic route after he wrapped up his parts at noon.

Son found out if one of his instructors would have rounded his percentage to a whole number he would have made deans list. Shakes his head and mutters about being .24% from the deans list first semester. I still have bragging rights since my last semester was a 3.486 and he got a 3.46.

I have had it with that Old Navy commercial.

Is that the rapping pajamas one?

The US Cellular one where the guy brings the phone home and sings it's benefit to Deck the Halls then watches TV on his phone. Your home why not watch it on a real TV? Also by not getting those lights done he didn't get laid that night.

So I ordered a book that was listed as in stock at Barnes and Noble in Omaha, just got an email that the order can't be fulfilled so they are cancelling the order.
I replied back asking why they can't order it and told them that is why retailers are failing. No customer service.
