Exciting times. I'll never forgot being one of the first ones on the flyover/bypass built for Dodge St here in Omaha. So yeah....I got that going for me which is nice.

Well, don't do this in Minnesota. Holding a phone while driving for whatever reason is now a primary traffic offense. Any and all phone use while driving must be hands free. You can't even dial while driving.
They (MN) also made it illegal to drive in the left lane unless passing, which I noticed was a problem with MN drivers. Iowa is getting bad too, there was talk about making it a law a few years ago, needs to happen.

I thought this was already illegal, just never enforced. Regardless I support it, with penalties up to and including execution.

Yellow advisory signs for curves -- loaded semi trucks take heed. I always add 10 and still feel very safe. I never expect to be pulled over for an advisory.

Normally agree - but when you see one of the "square corner" signs with the 90-degree angle... gotta obey those, they mean business!

It's a problem here.

So apparently the solution for cramming 5 lanes into 4 will be to block off one of the "through" lanes on 30.

I think that DOT drawing makes it look worse than it is. I thought at first that the "inside" flyover lane was going to have to merge with the WB US 30 lane (like when you take 80/35 S to 80W going toward Jordan Creek Parkway at the 'west mixmaster'...but at least here both flyover lanes extend to Dayton despite the need to merge with I35-SB ramp and one dropping at Dayton. It's not perfect, but Dayton is so close, and also I-35 SB isn't that busy for merging with one lane of the flyover. I-35 SB then have to merge again to get onto WB US 30, but again, better than what it could have been.

And looking again at the DOT drawing they will simplify that gameday merge by closing that WB lane before the flyover merge, since more will come from I35-NB-via-flyover than US 30-WB ...will back up US 30 a bit for those from M'town/Nevada, but seems smart to me. Simpler merge and then people can trade lanes between Dayton and Duff/University.

Here is what I mean about the inside lane immediate merge and "lane balance" at I-80/235 WB towards Jordan Creek:

....whereas this will normally be four lanes (with one exit only) to Dayton and then the 3rd lane has been extended to drop under the Dayton bridge:

I'll be curious to see how things shake out tomorrow morning. GameDay is a bit of a wild card here. Where normally you would have a mini-rush when lots open and then steadily increasing traffic leading up to major backups 2-3 hours prior to the game, tomorrow will probably be a huge early-arriving crowd which might cut back on the traffic rolling into town later.

Or I could be wrong!

On a related note: The bridge construction company's owner also owns 2 race teams, 1 of which won the preliminary night down in Knoxville last night.

So the flyover is pretty nice the handful of time I have used it. Why are there still cones blocking off the right lane?
