One thing about owning an old, paid-for car...

When that nasty little storm came through this morning in the DSM Metro, the only thought I had was "Well, as long as the hail doesn't break a window. Glad I kept them rolled up." Friend of mine had a new car around this time last year when a hailstorm came through, and she got a few good dings in it. eek.

Not exactly sure.
RTTers, should I make the 4 hour drive from college in NW Iowa to go to the game/home this weekend?

Northwestern huh? My son flipped from there to ISU in March. Almost let my season tickets at ISU go because he was going to play there.

@CyGuy5 I assume you have friends that attend ISU? Drive down Fri after class crash at their place, tailgate and game Sat. let a friendly ISU coed let you crash at her place Sat nite drive back Sun. Easy Peasy, if the next of the last part doesn't happen crash at your friends again.

I would be shocked if your application took more than a month. Most schools wave the entrance exams for working professionals with a good background and undergrad GPA. Basically they know your company is paying for it and clear the way to make money.

Shop around to a few different schools. I think it is becoming more common for them to allow a mix of online and in person which is nice. I do have a coworker that did hers 100% online with a 2 year old and finished while prego with twins. She is something else though...

I was talking to this one woman while we were both in college and she told me she had a kid. Was induced on Friday afternoon so she could make class on Monday. So I’m going off her experience that it shouldn’t be that tough.

Starting to get some things collected for the upcoming installment of the **** Iowa thread. View attachment 66002

Stranger things..... getting new stuff.
New stuff about old stuff.

Speaking of that. We're going to see a musical called Power Balladz. I'm totally amped. It's like the the soundtrack of my glory days. It should be pretty bitchin' dudes. Like totally tubular. Maybe even radical. I hope Mrs JCyclonee makes her hair big. She'll look bodacious. If you don't get this, you're totally bogus.

All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz and I’m fine.

It wasn't until WELL after I graduated that I found out my HS had the same melody as Miami of Ohio. I believe we were told it was the same as U of Chicago when I was in high school.
Our fight song was to the tune of "On, Wisconsin" and our alma mater was to Cornell's "Far above Cayuga's water" (our version was "Far above the clear lake waters...").

I was pretty much the opposite. I always thought I was gonna go to ISU and then I had an opportunity that changed my mind so here I am. Hopefully not revealing too much info lol

No. It’s a fine school. Had a nice offer from them. Son decided he didn’t want to chance another ACL injury and that since he was Ag, why go anyplace but ISU. For my kid, ISU was/is the better choice. Academics over athletics.

I was in the same boat. All my life I knew I was going to Iowa State just like my dad. But then Northwestern and Graceland started recruiting me for track/cross country and I ended up choosing Graceland because of their ag business and com sci programs (double major). After a year I transferred to Iowa State anyway. I just never felt at home at Graceland. I do at Iowa State.
