We need scoring for next year, and if we miss on Tucker, Moss could easily be a 14 ppg guy. He has a good looking outside stroke and shot 42% from 3 last year.
Yup he upgrades two areas we need: scoring and 3 pt shooting. He has proven it at a high level and at worst we only use a scholarship for one year on him.

Based on what? If this was Isaiah Moss from any other Big Ten school, I doubt you would be saying that.

Terrence is a very good offensive player, with some issues on defense (mostly understanding responsibilities IMO). Moss would have struggled for playing time behind our back court last year too. And Terrence is younger. I think he definitely has a higher ceiling, and we'll really see that this year.

I tend to agree with Pride. Moss can shoot when he's open (sometimes) and that's all. Lewis is longer, more athletic and can slash a bit. They're both bad at defense but with Lewis' skillset, he could turn out OK at it.

Maybe last year. Terrence has more upside IMO

In 48 career games Lewis is averaging 3.8 ppg 1.2 rpg 0.3 apg and shooting 29.6% from 3 in 10 mpg

In 102 career games Moss is averaging 8.9 ppg 2.2 rpg 1.5 apg and shooting 41% from 3 in 22 mpg

Maybe Lewis does have more upside than a kid who’s started 56 big ten games but i don’t see it. Moss would help the 2019-20 ISU team win games, that’s almost a certainty. Lewis might too or he might ride the bench again like he did this season

A. Anyone with a pulse gets 20 minutes a game for the Hawks
B. I'll always favor a guy who is here over a guy who is not (particularly when he's a Hawk)
C. That's all I have, but I started a list, and it looked like it needed more

Lewis was a four star recruit coming out of high school, so there's some potential and ability there. It's not as if he's had ample opportunity to crack the rotation his first two years at ISU. We still don't know what he is for sure. Not everyone is ready to contribute right away, and so his best might be yet to come - upside.
We've seen enough of Moss to know exactly what he is - a streaky player who can go from red hot to ice cold all in the same game. I don't know how much better he can get. Still wouldn't mind adding him to next year's roster, but I'd also like to see what Lewis can do given extended minutes on a consistent basis.

I wouldn't say there is evidence of him being a very good offensive player.

Career points above replacement player numbers (similar to WAR in baseball, but points per an assumed 72 possession game instead of wins per season) from Barttorvik...

Lewis
---
2018 = 0.8
2019 = 0.2

Moss
---
2017 = 0.6
2018 = 2.4
2019 = 1.9

Even more telling when you do the same against Top 50 teams...

Lewis
---
2018 = -0.1
2019 = -0.3

Moss
---
2017 = 0.2
2018 = 1.7
2019 = 1.9

For comparison, here are the same numbers last year for our guards...

Shayok = 4.9
Haliburton = 4.3
Wigginton = 3.6
Weiler-Babb = 2.8
Horton-Tucker = 2.7
Talley = 0.0
Lewis = -0.3
Griffin = 0.8

I am not giving up on Lewis, but Moss is clearly a better player right now. We have had a lot of fun making fun of him the past few years, but if this were "Joe Smith from Northwestern" with the exact same numbers, we would be pretty excited about it.

Not as much as Tucker or some of the others, but we would like him as a backup option.

My question is why did Fran let Moss go?

From what I read on on of the Hawk sites, Moss told Fran he wasn't happy with this role (apparently Connor was getting more and more time over him later in the year) and Fran basically said well too bad look somewhere else then. Bascially the second player leaving because of Connor although the first wasn't very good (Christian Williams).

Grad transfer. He had no option. No coach can keep a player who wants to transfer anymore. Guessing Moss wants not playing time and more diversity on the team. Dude is from Chicago and plays with a mostly white team. That has to be an issue.

Moss put up 20 on us last year and they beat our ass, just glad we (hopefully) wont have to face him whether we get him or not...
