Random Thoughts the 13th: Jason Takes RTT

We're still deciding but probably pulled pork. or maybe tacos. I might do pulled pork in the Instapot (I know this is sacrilege to some). It comes out pretty juicy and tender and I could do a few roasts pretty quickly. Whatever happened to ham sandwiches on dollar buns, a bowl of chips, a veggie tray, and either beans, slaw or potato salad?

Also, it's the graduating daughter's birthday today. Now that she's an adult I can charge her rent, right?
Yes sir on the rent. It is known.

So, the lane shift that is supposed to be happening where I work seems to have turned into the whole street is closed. In the direction I usually take... It's going to take a nice side trip to get back to home. FUN!

Just threw in my crazy idea too because why not

Had to help my son with a comp paper he was writing last night. There was a little confusion until he told me what side he was taking in it. Was able to help him get going then. Was a little clumsy until he asked what my stance on the argument was. Told him I'm mostly of the other stance because what he was trying to argue is a little non realistic in my view. I understand and appreciate it, but see things slightly more complicated and that is why. He mentioned he had to use an argument for the other side to help boost his. I gave one and gave both sides.

Many times, IMO, being a dad means explaining your reasoning and why but letting your kids make their own opinions and decisions in order to spread their wings and learn about life. Hopefully by showing respect to their opinions and reasoning, they will show the same to others who disagree.
My older son was/is a great debater; we used to sit up for hours discussing/arguing a point of view. Sometimes I would become exasperated and tell him "I didn't raise you to think that way" when he would argue a particularly offensive POV, and he would laugh and say he didn't...
That kid could convincingly argue that the earth was flat!

I think they should somehow reanimate Ned Stark and kill him just so Sean Bean gets to die yet again. Every movie I see him in I keep waiting for him to die.
At some point someone needs to make a parody where he gets killed in every scene.

Hope you don't need to go home in the dark!

Mrs. Velo and I were half watching The Martian last night. We both admitted to getting a weird satisfaction every time from the scene where they (including Sean Bean) are talking about the Council of Elrond since - you know - he was in it.

By the way, in The Martian he doesn't die but his character's career does.

When I first watched the movie I kept expecting his character to get up and announce it's time for him to leave and just jump out a window or something.

Very similar situation here. My wife's list for invites versus mine is insanely different in size. A couple of neighbor ladies volunteered to help us out during the festivities so that my wife can socialize. Are you having pulled pork or a taco bar since that seems to be what everybody is doing these days?

I'll also extend the invite also. Ours is 15 days after the graduation ceremony at our house. It's the house on the left just before our street turns into a cul de sac.

Who doesn't love a taco bar.......though DH would totally be on the pulled pork train. I'm thinking taco bar for baby birthday but DH said it's supposed to be what the baby wants, not what mommy wants. But if baby is too little to have a say and he also loves avocado.........I think he's telling me what he wants
