Reminds me a lot of Grayson Allen, hopefully minus the douche. Not quite as refined or as good of a handle yet, but it feels like a good comp.

Allen was listed at 6’5” and is a freak athlete at that size. Elite agility and vertical (40.5 inch vertical).

That hasn’t really been the narrative though. Mostly people talking about his quick release and athletic ability. I did read that he’s the son of a coach, like Lewis.

He is from a smaller school in Kansas. The references and comparisons to Frankamp or even Custer are natural. He’s clearly a different type of player than Custer, and longer than both. He’s probably too short to be great compared to Haluska, but dunking like that against small school competition reminds me of watching Haluska when he was at Carroll. Maybe we can get lucky this is our Hinrich
Not really, it's the 3rd largest 5A school in Kansas. Larger than pretty much every CIML school here in Iowa. Not saying that means the competition is great, but it isn't like he's playing against rural west Kansas schools with a 6'0" center and an overweight coach that played Junior High ball 45 years ago.

Custer and Frankamp were also not from small schools by enrollment. I should have said from weaker competition than most recruits.

Reminds me a little of Wigginton actually. Very athletic, good jump shooter, maybe not very polished. I'm curious why Wichita State isn't in the picture more.

Lets be honest - at this point in the game, our likelihood of signing a better prospect is almost zero. I really hope we get him.

Yeah, I hope we offer him and that he hits it off well with Prohm and the team/staff.

Can Georges, Naz, or Monté "just happen to be in town" that weekend...? :)

Senior year highlights. I think he’s worth an offer without a doubt. His game resembles AJ Green from UNI.

He has some range on his shot which is good. No knock on him, but the competition he played against looked very limited. It is nice to see that he can drive, shoot and distribute. Puts more pressure on the defense.

When 50% percent of the board has you on Ignore I don’t think I would be preaching about self awareness. IMO of course.

But let’s ignore the troll that tries to hijack every thread and get back to Caleb Grill. I think he could be a helluva 4 year player and sounds like he loves Iowa State.

He sure seems worth the "risk". He may not be an NBA talent but I'm told we shouldn't recruit those guys because they leave too early.

He can always open up a restaurant, after graduation, if he's not pro material.

No risk at all with Grill given the fact it is Spring and the fact we have 2 soon to be three scholarships available.

We need shooters. If you think he'll be able to shoot, get him here.

We were a surprisingly good shooting team last year.

Of the seven tournament teams...

2012 = 37.3% (#54)
2013 = 37.4% (#34)
2014 = 35.8% (#105) -- not what you might have expected for that team
2015 = 36.2% (#84)
---
2016 = 38.7% (#20)
2017 = 40.0% (#12) -- wow, man having Naz, Matt, Monté, and Donovan together was nice
2019 = 36.2% (#81)

Not the best of the run, certainly, but not the worst of it, either.

But your point is correct...

(1.) You can never have too much guard talent. Having a shooter like Grill and a bulldog like Nadolny together is a plus, not somehow a problem.

(2.) You can never have too much guard talent or depth in college basketball.

(3.) We are pretty sure to lose Horton-Tucker, and I have my doubts that Wigginton is going to return, and we are already losing Nick and Marial. At this point, you load the cupboard up with as many wing players as you can. We'll need 'em.

Agree. Love his shot. He would look great canning them from 3 in Hilton. I hope CSP gets him in Cardinal and Gold.

Thought from Wichita fans is that there's a rift between Marshall and his father. K-State would surprise me since EMAW has Chicago POY coming in and another youngster already here, Shaun Neil-Williams. So, ISU might be logical, particularly, for a kid who likes to shoot.

K-State has the Chicago POY coming in next year? Wouldn't have ever know that outside of the 50 times you've posted that.

Looks like a shorter version of Sam Dekker or Nik Stauskas

Any other white guy comparisons?
I just say a composite of all the white guys from Florida Gulf Coast when they made their tourney run.

This kid can play. Looks like he shot 35% from three. Not great but No weird delivery, it's not slow and he gets off the floor and has good high release. He's got nothing to fix on his shot. Even though Matt Thomas shot a high 3P% as a junior, he shot about 35-36% as a senior I believe.

Love the fact that he plays FB and is QB to boot. Between that and track its likely this kid hasn't played nearly as much basketball as most recruits. He's got a good ceiling.
