Random Thoughts the 13th: Jason Takes RTT

DH was working on ours last week and said the only reason we're getting a refund is because of the kid.

Maybe try claiming your dog next year. I'm totally spacing on his name. I know it. Dammit, I know it. Cooper. Harley. Riley! It's Riley!

Finally did mine over the weekend. Owe about $450 each so have not hit send yet but will this week with eFile Express, $7 each to file. Cheap and easy if you know your forms, it doesn't walk you through stuff but it's way good enough for me with only a Schedule A and B to go with the 1040. Couldn't get a real good direct compare to last years rates and loss of personal exemption because I had a one time extra income I had to claim last year. Seems to be a push for me though and it appears the lost exemption $$ were made up for by a moderately lower tax rate. LOL at simpler though, I had to add a form (Schedule 1) to take the place of a single line they eliminated from the 1040 so they could brag about the 1040 being shorter. JFC, what a sham.

DH was complaining about this exact thing. That it was "shorter" only in the fact that what was previously a couple lines was now a separate form to fill out.

My son now places all the planets in order, tells me trivia facts about each one, and even shows me how the moon rotates around the Earth (it's as cute as it sounds).

Now he has picked a new hobby collecting different rocks he finds in our backyard. This part concerns me, as I do not want him to become a geology professor with dumb political views.

...Also this is in New Orleans to set your mind right. I'm just shocked how cheap a few of these guys are. We voted on an AirBnB for example and they chose one that was 5ish miles from the French Quarter to save $13/person vs getting a place ON Bourbon street. That's not even per night, that's total. I'm just like what the **** guys. An Uber will pretty much wipe that out and then some. The current discussion is a $30 vs a $90 expense for an activity...

5 miles from Bourbon St? Where is it at? Kenner or Metairie? New Orleans isn't that big of a city. I could understand staying off St Charles or Magazine instead of the quarter but still.

Last bachelor party I went to ended up being ~$450 per person (I think, this was probably 4 yrs ago). About 8 of us rented an RV and went to Poconno raceway for the weekend. I think two people had to fly in, the rest of us were living/working in the NYC area at the time.

Thumbing through netflix and found a Bruce Willis movie I had never heard of before. Called "Lay the Favorite". Supposed to be a true story about a women who got into the gambling world, hence the title. Had catherine ZetaJones and Vince Vaughn also. Figured I'd just missed hearing about this one. The Dirt was better than this one, this woman did not have as exciting of a life as she or the producers thought. The lead actress was bad also, I have no idea why they placed her as the lead, had Donna from the 70s show also.

Googled the movie later and noticed it brought in a whopping 1.5 million dollars. Tells you how much those actors have fallen.

I think I'm officially an adult! I ordered fundraiser food that I didn't really need and wasn't really that good from one of my youth group kids that I don't really know that well. But it was totally worth it ... I guess?

I usually go into those scenarios wondering what the people in my office are most likely to eat, cuz that's where 90% of that stuff ends up anyway. Then I remember that people in my office will devour anything free as long as it isn't moving (much) and order whatever I want based on the dollar amount I want to contribute.

Yeah, IIRC, one of the first scenes was a topless woman with a quick camera slide sideways to show Vince going to town behind. At that point you know this is probably not something you will feel comfortable watching with your 12 year old son.

David Lee Roth is about the main one they show, no GnR from what I remember.

Little trivia. Aerosmith's Dude Looks like a Lady was written about Tyler, Vince Neil, and one other guy being bombed at a bar and Tyler looks and Neil and says, Dude looks like a lady.
A friend was the local manager for MC when they had a concert here in the 90's. At that time, the rest of the band hated Tommy Lee and he had to break up fights between Tommy and the other band members.

Paycheck movies.

Someone asked Michael Caine why he did Jaws: The Revenge. He said it paid for his beach house.
