Hoiberg to Huskers

Possibly not untrue...but it was his idea to pitch Pollard to come back as coach. There sure seems to be a lot of 'oh poor Fred. He must have just hated it here. He MUST have not gotten along with Pollard. He REALLY must have hated recruiting...' Blah blah blah. He's a big boy and knew what he was doing/getting himself into when he took the job here.
Even Jesus wasn't accepted as Christ in his hometown. ;)

I don't feel bad for him, I just get that he may not ever want to coach here again because of the crazies. Less of a cult following elsewhere.

Fred doesn't seem to me like the type of guy that is going to like the early leaks and speculation before anything is done. Could that kill a potential deal?

I think the exact opposite. It wouldn't kill the NU deal, and if the T'wolves or any better college jobs have any interest it might make them reach out and indicate it to Fred. Fred is in a great position here that he can leak as much info out there as possible, leverage it all as hard as possible, and if it does happen to torpedo a job like NU he can walk away, still be crazy rich and wait for something better. At worst, an NU type job will probably be available each year where he'd be a strong candidate. NU basketball is the 20' contested jumper with 18 seconds left on the shot clock of college jobs.

I can’t wait to see who has the first tweet announcing it when it happens - Randy P or Hines. I also wonder which one of those 2 gets the most enjoyment reporting it.

I think I would love for Cam to play for Fred. I'm probably in the minority that I want both to succeed, but I do see how a strong Nebraska BB program could impact recruiting a bit.

Goodman will beat them both to the punch.

Also, up until this year Mullin didn't do squat with StJ. Makes you still wonder if Abdelmassih would be intrigued or not.
St John's is "home" for Abdelmassih. Would you rather try to bring dudes to play in Madison Square Garden or Lincoln, NE?

That’s part of the deal when you are a celebrity. If you don’t want that get a 9-5 job where no one cares about what your doing.

Seriously, do minor celebrities really complain about this stuff? Back when I was young enough to be out prowling around more I used to see local celeb's out all the time in bars and restaurants in downtown Minneapolis. Folks pretty much ignored them. I didn't pop over to sit down and chat with Rod Carew or ask Mayor Coleman if I could share a cigar with him. The only one I bugged once was Senator Boschwitz and he talked to me first to wish my gal a happy birthday after he picked that up from sitting at the next table. Hollywood stars here for filming and such have even commented how they could go out to eat without being bugged.

StJ's plays a lot more games at their on campus arena vs MSG. Their on campus arena is smaller and dumpier than Drake's.

I don't think arena/city matter as much as people think.
