If he decides to coach in college again and its not at ISU, I would prefer it be in the Big 10 at a school not named Iowa. Our odds of ever playing him are small and he can beat Iowa twice/year.

I'm conflicted on this because I don't like Nebraska, but him going to the Big 10 and trouncing Iowa every year sounds like soooooo much fun.

I have a ton of respect for Fred and he will always be a Cyclone legend, but as far as coaching goes, I've moved on. He wanted out and a chance at the NBA. He got that and now he's on to other things. No hard feelings, do what you gotta do Fred. You're always a Cyclone.

I must be the only person on this site that doesn't think Fred will come back to college. I believe what he said about hating the recruiting aspect and I think he will stay away from the college game because of it.
His grandpa was a bball coach there wasn't he? Might be a circle of life thing for Fred.

Nebraska won’t happen for Fred. It’s probably just delusional Husker fans thinking they can get Hoiberg. He would sit out and wait for a better program over Nebraska anyway.
I don’t pretend to know what he was thinking, but 1) he always professed his love for the NBA, 2) his contract was written in such a way that you knew he’d go at some point, and 3) it was pretty clear he/family was not interested in Ames long-term. All of these things are ok! So is getting $25m!
One thing's for sure is all of his potential options seem to be in the midwest. Maybe he just loves the weather.
