Hoiberg to Huskers

They just finally lost in the NIT a couple days ago. If they fired Miles and hired Hoiberg immediately it would look absolutely terrible. If the deal is done there is no need to be super rushed. Give it a week and it will look better.

If they cared about how it looked, they probably wouldn’t have let it leak that they were going to fire Miles and hire Hoiberg, including the terms and conditions of his contract, while Miles and his team was still playing in the NIT tournament.

I have no doubt that Jamie will pony up the money when he has to. I'd expect Coach Prohm to get a little bump this year, and more when he has higher levels of success.
A little bump sounds reasonable, but if other schools are willing to give a significant increase, then what?

That's a judgement call that would really depend on how much more we'd need to pay to keep him. Not sure what he's making now, but if Alabama came at him with a million more, I wouldn't expect us to match it, but I would expect us to bump him high enough to make that a hard decision to make.

Not at all but if you can’t understand that not my problem
Ok, then what was the point of bringing up his fundraising responsibilities, and how does that tie back to JP not paying coaches enough?

Because you said he’s not holding money back from the budget for himself. Raises and bonuses aren’t always from the budget. That sounds like things are tight and there is no money for raises . So yes my point was he makes calls and gets the money for coaches from large donors.

Originally you agreed with a post that Jamie is "cheap" and doesn't want to pay coaches, but disagreed with me saying you are acting like he is keeping the money himself. So why did you bring up fundraising and what does that have to do with him being cheap? He is a really good fundraiser and has the budget but just doesn't want to spend it? What's he doing with the money if he's not keeping it himself?

We’ve only been out of the first weekend 5 times ever. And prohm has one of those.
I'm def aware of that but for all the talent on this squad depending on who returns there should be no reason it doesn't happen next year!

We do have talent, but not any more than 20-30 other teams. The tournament is, and always will be a crap shoot. Every team has talent, especially the top 10 seeds. Only 16 of those teams will make it to the 2nd week. Duke has more talent than anyone, and if UCF had been able to make a lay-up, would have been out in the round of 32.

The way Tim Miles was treated the coaching community is not going to be really happy with Fred. He should have taken UCLA or some school where he can get 5 stars and play his style more easily.

I mean this is ridiculous:

Timothy Sean Miles is an American college basketball coach and for now the men's basketball coach at the University of Nebraska. Miles previously served as the head coach at Colorado State University and is a graduate of the University of Mary. Wikipedia

Well per all sources we have heard from Fred isn’t even close to the top of UCLAs list. People really over value Fred in terms of just thinking he can name his job.

Agree and what I’ve been basically trying to say all season. You couldn’t have said it better, our fellow fan!!!!! When our relative worked in Fred’s program, he always said no matter how talented they were, it was so HARD to advance!

Nebraska handled this very poorly. If you've known for quite a while, you were going to fire somebody, just fire him. Dragging this out is not fair to the players.

Then Nebraska media does their thing “95% sure it’s Hoiberg”, “it’s done and finalized” etc etc. and it’s hilarious.

Why assume the details came from Nebraska's AD? Fred's camp has more to gain from leaked details if the deal hasn't been signed yet, because it sets a public market for his services. All his agent needs to do is leave details to a NU booster and be secure in the knowledge it is going to be big news.

I'm still not convinced he's going there for certain. I think it's more likely his team is using them.
