Hoiberg to Huskers

Fred isn’t coming back... folks need to let that sink in.. he’s not.

Bama prob has interest in Prohm and JP is wanting to stay cheap and not give to much $$$... JP is also thinking, without thinking, that he can just hire TJ if Prohm leaves..

I agree though that Prohm leaving and then after Fred taking Neb while isu is open would look really really bad. All way around.

Only jsb wants him back

Why dont you just tell us what you heard. All I know is what people "hear" about Fred changes on a pretty regular basis.

Agreed. I mean you have people hearing both directions from this past weekend.

Talk about super awkward. Is there any precedence of this happening anywhere?

I mean, I guess I would have to support it because I'll never be the type of fan that silently cheers against my team, just to say "I told you so."

Ritchie McKay the current head coach of NCAA Tournament Liberty was previously coach there a little over 10 years ago.

I just don't see Hoiberg ever coming back to coach the Cyclones. He'll look for the next challenge.

I wish they would have some more Ruffridge bio stuff done by a guy who lives near Central Park or writes for Des Moines Register...I guess that is about the same thing. Really rustic and bucolic...maybe her sitting on a tractor chewing on a piece of straw. Some banjo music leading into the dramatic piano music. Have her holding a state of Iowa quarter with teacher ringing a bell...and then she could ring a bell too at her little school.

These national guys don’t just make **** up. They hear things and have sources. Which means one of two things IMO:

1. Prohm looking for an extension and raise.
2. Prohm would listen.

I THINK it’s #1 because he literally said two days ago he isn’t going anywhere. But coaching is an odd business.

I’m pretty convinced these guys just throw crap against a wall to see what sticks. The following are steps to becoming a college b-ball insider:

1: Get fancy twitter that has hoops in it
2: Put blue check mark next to your name
3: Look up coaches wiki pages to see connections to different schools
4: tweet out 15 possible names for each job opening
5: when job was filled by 1 of the 15 names you mention retweet yourself and go “I called this weeks ago”
6: Repeat

Except there is a guy that runs this site and is part of the University family that can literally text Prohm and ask him off the record and then come here and tell us low key that Prohm isn’t going anywhere. But these National guys know more I guess.
Are you talking about Chris? LOFL.

I’m tracking about 25 percent of this

I kinda thought if the Hoiberg to Nebraska was a done deal it would have already been announced. But who really knows.

There has to be a farmer taking off his hat and wiping the sweat from his forehead while the sun gleams in the background.

Some of you act like JP is personally keeping money that isn't spent in the athletic budget. There is a finite amount of that stuff you know. It's not like he's lining his pockets with it.

That’s not my point. The market is set by all other power 5 teams not by JP or Iowa State. When other coaches are getting paid more for similar success or even less he needs to get on the same level with pay. The glamour of a power 5 job only last for so long with some Coaches then they want paid. There is a budget I know this and the club donations are increasing each year. It’s also JPs job to make the calls to get the money for raises.

Thanks to mostly TV money, IIRC the department revenue has increased by nearly $20 million since we were paying Hoiberg just under $2 million in 2013. JP is not doing his job well if he cannot pay Prohm $3+ million.

They just finally lost in the NIT a couple days ago. If they fired Miles and hired Hoiberg immediately it would look absolutely terrible. If the deal is done there is no need to be super rushed. Give it a week and it will look better.

Your points are all over the place. So you're saying JP is a poor fundraiser?
JPs NOT doing his job well? You MAY be in the minority on THAT one champ.
No kidding. JP is in the bottom half of the Big XII for AD salaries. Talk about underpaid.
