Yeah, no one wanted Ernst to get big minutes or Ernst to be retained over any kind of quality option. It was more about Carter not having any value than Ernst having value imo. Just Gunner being Gunner, then and now.Not sure about people wanting big minutes but there was an "Ernst" thread with like 500 posts. Not a majority but plenty wishing Prohm would've retained him. Since Carter hasn't left yet there were also plenty of posters upset that Prohm "chose" Carter over Ernst as if Prohm brought them in and said "I can only keep one of you and Simeon, you're my guy!"
Take a look at the early responses to the mere thought that Jacobson (at NU at the time) could add value. Few things get the hipster jersey chasers as bent out of shape as suggesting a low ranked Iowan could contribute.
