Not sure about people wanting big minutes but there was an "Ernst" thread with like 500 posts. Not a majority but plenty wishing Prohm would've retained him. Since Carter hasn't left yet there were also plenty of posters upset that Prohm "chose" Carter over Ernst as if Prohm brought them in and said "I can only keep one of you and Simeon, you're my guy!"
Yeah, no one wanted Ernst to get big minutes or Ernst to be retained over any kind of quality option. It was more about Carter not having any value than Ernst having value imo. Just Gunner being Gunner, then and now.

Take a look at the early responses to the mere thought that Jacobson (at NU at the time) could add value. Few things get the hipster jersey chasers as bent out of shape as suggesting a low ranked Iowan could contribute.

Juiston doesn't seem like a fit right because of Lard, Jacobson, Conditt and Young plus they are bringing in Anderson. If ISU loses Wigginton and THT they will need guards not bigs.
I imagine he will have some decent suitors though. Isn't he originally from the East coast? I can't remember what other schools were involved with him.

Seemed like the top choices were UNLV, Iowa State, DePaul, Kansas and Rhode Island. Oklahoma and Seton Hall were also involved.

He's originally from Newark, NJ for what that's worth.

Unless he had to sit out a year, and then Jacobson is gone (and potentially who knows what happens with Lard over the next year).

Sounds like he would be immediately available.

He is using his redshirt on a medical this season.

He's a sit zero, play one.

I think @CyTwins is right he will have some nice suitors.

Hopefully they can afford him.

I think a junk-type player at the 4 to rebound and get put backs could be helpful for next years team. Probably hard to find minutes with 4 quality bigs already though, plus it'd be nice to get a known shooter if we have another opening.

Juiston would be a great fit alongside Jacobsen imo. Great rebounder and can add some size and play making from the wing. Not a great shooter but I think he could potentially play as a guard in a 4 guard offense.

If I recall, the 3 main finalists were UNLV, DePaul, and ISU. DePaul’s “in” was former teammate, Eli Cain. Cain is a senior this year.

Kansas was heavily involved last time, due to merit as well as the Tyrone Applegate approach to recruiting. They may be even more desperate this time if the good Lawson and Doke depart.
