But the player Cam was nearest to and guarding did not get the rebound. No...that was two other Baylor players...who had ISU players in the area responsible to block them out and rebound themselves.
And as I asked earlier, was the game plan to never let the player he was shadowing alone behind the 3 pt arc? Without that information , we can't say for sure how well Cam performed on this short clip.
The Baylor ball handler on that play was Makai Mason. He destroyed us much of the game coming off of pick and rolls either shooting or getting to the rim, so correct, he was not supposed to be left alone behind the three point arc.
Getting the defense scrambling and out of position greatly contributed to nearly 50% OReb %. The closest guy to Lard didn’t get the rebound because Lard was out of bounds. Cam is out of bounds AND watching on the rebound. That’s a win for Baylor.
Lard wasn’t defending anything on the screen. He was in no man’s land.
Lard pretty clearly effected Mason's shot on the play. He didn't play it perfectly; if he would have been closer to Mason he wouldn't have had to jump for the shot and wouldn't have been as out of position on the rebound. But at the very least Lard gets credit for forcing the first miss.
