How in the ******* world did Cyclone fans trans into the same thing as Hawkeye fans??????
High -- often unreasonable -- expectations, followed by results that don't match those expectations, is the magic formula for extreme indignation.

Where we finished is really all that matters.

And half the p5 makes the tournament these days. Merely making it as a p5 team at a school that is historically more of a basketball school than a football school should be the expectation, not the definition of success.

I'm not at the point of saying fire Prohm this year. He deserves another. But being satisfied with middling big 12 finishes and simply making the tournament reminds me of Campbell on the football side: "6-6 programs are ********". We should expect better than mediocrity. Setting sights lower is how you ensure you slide backward.

Who is “you”?

This feels like McDoormat 2.0.

-Coach has a hard time relating to certain players
-Get's talent but doesn't perform
-Good guy, but not a good fit
-Play calling out of TO is terrible

Being 9-9 at Hilton the last 2-years is unbelievable.

I don’t think you were an ISU fan during the McDermott years because if you were you wouldn’t post crap like this that outs yourself as a ******* moron.

Just for the record...I have never accepted mediocrity in my life and never will ...the same as Matt Campbell ...aim high aka winning a big 12 championship and go on to the natl championship playoffs....Thats what Brock Purdy is saying anyway...and I agree with him AIM HIGH.....

Yet here we are, the rest of us, having to accept your LESS than mediocre posting. Football in a basketball thread...sliding down that hok path pretty quickly.

As sucky as this recent slide has been, we still had some great moments this season (and might still have more, stay tuned). The Mac years were miserable the whole way through; games like this year's @ Texas and @ WV were the norm.

I completely agree. It’s frustrating when someone points out one of those factors is the head coach and is instantly called “not a real fan” or called names (as you did me) for pointing out your contradictiory logic and behavior.

If that is what you guys were actually doing that would be different.

You aren’t here for that. And trying to pretend you are, is dishonest and insulting.

Their problem was they aimed high and fell apart when they didn't get there. They weren't aiming for 9-9.

But just like Campbell, Prohm isn't going call out his team in public and call them losers. He's not going to denigrate what they did do by saying that it was worthless.

I loved the dynamic of Talley starting and THT coming off the bench yesterday. Yes, yes, only a senior day thing I know, but THT came in with some focused energy I thought, and was insta offense off the bench. To me, it's obvious THTs usage has just been too high this season. Too little too late with the lineup changes, and for the wrong reasons. Conditt is an upgrade over Lard at this point, so at least Prohm got that right. I am in wait and see mode with prohm for next season, but I didn't see a lot to give him my vote of confidence this year.

This is crazy. These people are mad at him for standing up for his team.

Of course the only way they would have been happy is if he said he was terrible and quit on the spot.

Great fans.

Great fans.

And they assume he is happy with how the season ended. If you listen to him at all, you know that he repeatedly called last year unexceptable after the season ended. I suspect that during the summer and next season, he will comment about how February was not acceptable (although I do think he should and will point out that they got back to the NCAA).

He's dealing with a fragile team and I'd like to know what purpose it would serve for him to call out himself and his team in public while the season is still going on.

Saw in an article prohm said he liked Conditt's effort in the WVU game so he went with him over Lard in the TTU game.

Wouldn't surprise me.

With Conditt there's limitations but you at least know the effort is there.

I guess we will continue to have a difference of opinion. I would like to see someone like a Chris Beard or Matt Campbell infused into this culture. Prohm has made the same consistent mistakes since he got here. He also struggled defensively at Murray St after his first year there. I don't see any improvement with him overall.
Could you say the fact I am more of a gambling man makes me more inclined to say let's go shoot for someone who would be able to put Iowa State in a place to win the conference and do damage in the big dance, rather than middling BIG12 team and getting to the dance without any real chance of making a dent?

Well, since you label yourself as "more of a gambling man", I would hope that you have a clear understanding that any coaching change carries an inherent amount of risk with it.

Jamie Pollard is a damn good athletic director, but let's please not act like every single hire of his has been a home run to this point; yes, Matt Campbell has been great, but Gene Chizik was not. Fred Hoiberg saved our program from the disaster that was Greg McDermott.

You seem to think that finding a coach capable of winning a championship in short order is fairly easy and that they are a dime a dozen. They are not.

I'm here for the meltdown.

My 2 favorite sports - #1 coming to the boards to talk about a Cyclone win (happens WAY more often than some would like BTW) with like-minded positive fans, and #2 coming for a series of the most ignorant, poorly thought-out, brain dump crap posts by a very vocal, very ignorant, and hopefully very SMALL contingent of Cyclone "fans".
