Big 12 Wrestling Touney Thread

I think Ok State will be
165 - Joe Smith.
174 - Jacobe Smith
184 - Dakota Geer
197 - Preston Weigel

This could backfire big time on Ok State. Weigel could get hurt and the cut to 165 for Joe Smith could really hurt his performance.

I really don't see the benefit of the changes at 165 & 174.
Geer is a 184 pounder, so let him challenge Ja Smith at 184 and able to go back up if Weigel gets hurt again,

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Jacobe Smith has been a lot better at 184 than Geer was when he was down there. Leave Chandler Rodgers/JoJo at 65&74, let Jacobe and Geer wrestle off for 184.

We'll see how it pans out for them, I guess. Knew they were going to have this problem coming into the year, don't get why they are getting it sorted out now at the end of the season.

Especially when Joe Smith can't get an allocation at 165, Jacobe Smith can't get one at 174, and Dakota Geer can't get one at 184. Smith has a tendency to screw the conference over on allocations.

All 3 are pretty much guaranteed to steal a spot.

That's kind of a joke but I guess there's nothing you can do about it.

I heard Joe Smith might be sick and not able to make 165. If so, Chandler Rogers stays and we keep all the allocations at 165.

When do Big 12 tourney preseeds come out?

Can anybody confirm the following for team tournament scoring at Big 12:

Placement Points
1st - 12 points
2nd - 10 points
3rd - 9 points
4th - 7 points
5th - 6 points
6th - 4 points

(I know 149 and 197 will have a 7th place match for qualifying purposes, but I'm guessing that won't have team scoring points???)

Advancement Points
Championship Bracket = 1 point
Consolation Bracket = 0.5 point

Bonus Points
Fall, Forfeit, Med For, Default, Disqualification = 2 points
Tech Fall = 1.5 points
Major Dec = 1 point

(Do they differentiate between Tech Falls with and without nearfall points???)

Never fully sure on some of this, especially at the conference tournament.

Can someone explain these messed up brackets to me? A 1 seed has to win a match to meet the 8 seed? WTF?

http://intermatwrestle.com/Files/pdf/2019big12championships.pdf

It's a normal 8 man bracket with 4 randomly drawn in pigtails but they went out of their way to make it look as confusing as possible so that they could use the same template for every bracket.

The second round is still going to be (barring upsets)
1-8
2-7
3-6
4-5

and same for the semifinals
1-4
2-3

1/8/4/5 are all in the top half and 2/7/3/6 are all in the bottom half. They just moved the matches around on the bracket sheet depending on who drew a pigtail so that every bracket would look the same on the printouts.

Redraw at 165. Instead of having the WVU guy who Logan lost to by 1 point, he gets to wrestle the 8 seed... - Jo Jo Smith from Okie State

This might get interesting, If Smith beats Logan, he will have #1 seeded Brandon Ashworth.

Is something happening, they took the tweet down. Someone complaining about the placement in the bracket? I wouldn't be happy if I was the Wyoming coach and got Smith 2nd round as the #1 seed
