With the some changes at 165 pounds, the 165-pound bracket will be reseeded and redrawn on Friday evening at the coaches' meeting. Note that all of the brackets and preseeds are subject to change, as well.

They posted a new bracket last night that has Smith as an 8 seed against Schumacher in the first match. I hope they redo that on Friday because that's the complete opposite of what I was hoping to have happen with Smith added in.
 
Okay, I take that back. It's actually a good draw and I like it and hope they don't change it. If they do, and things go to chalk (other than Schumacher stealing wins) then his path to 5th and a ticket to NCAAs is

Loss to Smith in the pigtails
Beat #26 Kiussis of WVU in the first round consolations (Kiussis beat him 3-2 in the dual)
Beat UR Hokkitt of Fresno State in the second round consolations
Lose to #17 Fogarty of NDSU in the consolation semifinals
Get a rematch against Steiert of UNI in the 5th place match.

Not a super likely path, but there's not much of a better way you could draw it up for him.

I just noticed that Cyclone Wrestling took down the previous tweet about Logan have Smith in 1st round. Then this tweet showed up, so I assume that redraw got thrown out.

Have to assume that either John Smith opposed it or Mark Branch did. If I was Branch, I wouldn't want me #1 seed to have Smith in the 2nd round. And if I was John, I would want my kid (who can't get a wild card) to potentially get bumped to backside in the 2nd round.

I liked the old path better, when he had Kuissis 1st round. He needed to win that, but I can't remember the rest of the bracket.

Steiert is a tough out.

Ashworth, Smith, Steiert, Romero, Forgarty.

Yeah losing that 6th allocation really hurts.

Yep, there's really no way he'll have an easy match in the 5th place match short of somebody injury defaulting or something. Sucks that we lost that 6th spot.

Have the seeds changed yet? The bracket I'm looking at appears to be correct (compared to WrestleStat's Tourney Pool pre-seeds) (and the tweets above aren't loading in case THOSE contain the changes that you're talking about)

The updated bracket has Joe Smith as the #8 seed vs Logan Schumacher. But that is subject to change again on Friday

Awesome thanks! Sucks that it will probably change again thanks to Okie State and their bs. Thanks for doing the tourney pick 'ems btw! Always look forward to it.

West Virginia doesn't have anybody registered at 184. Not a weight where that matters a whole lot to us but still strange. They haven't been forfeiting that weight in duals or anything.
