Lowest seed we would get is a 7. This loss, as bad as it was, won't hurt us much. Now if we lose at WVU that is a bad loss. That's the only game left, including KC, that would cause us to drop a few spots in NET, etc. We are still top 15 on KenPom after this loss. I personally think if we win at WVU and lose to Tech and lose in KC we would still be a 6 seed.

Good post, people tend to live in the moment, and flush the overall body of work, and go into a sky is falling mode.

I think they probably will end up being a 6, it is very unlikely the drop below a 7.
The committee no longer puts a greater emphasis on your last 10.

Based on the NET after this loss we would still be a 5. And the NET is going to be the predominant tool in seeding teams.

Game was unacceptable. Significant improvement required from both coaching staff & players. I'm not going to defend bad play or the product that was put on the floor, ISU deserves better, but I personally draw a line when anonymous posters (usually full grown adults) lob unconstructive attacks at college kids (gutless, pathetic, scrubs). Reasonable criticism is fine, that's not. And like I said in the game thread, if that's you, I find you a pretty pathetic poster. That's my piping hot take.

At least the Lard suspension didn’t really affect the game. They would have lost regardless.

Not sure what happened to our perimeter defense. The WVU game could be just what we need to put things on the right track. Most teams are going to go through bad stretches. We are in the midst of ours.

THT and Wigginton are sooooo inconsistent. It's either 1 for 10 or 8 for 10. I thought we just needed one of the two to have a good game to win, but that's not enough when you give up 89 points.

I think if you are worried about tourney seeds you are concerned with the wrong thing. I see a team that doesnt play D, a team with no discernable game plan or offense. And a team that plays with low intensity. I'm much more concerned with the current level of play than the total body of work.
We played hard defense, moved the ball quickly, and made shots earlier in the season. not sure what changed.

Dude, if you were seriously thinking that this was a potential final 4 team, then your expectations were way off base. This is still the same program that was dead last in the conference last season, with 4 wins.

Teams don't go from last place to first place.

This is a team that also played 3 Freshmen and 1 Soph, along with another Soph and Freshman mixed in today. Its not like they are rolling 7 upper classmen out there and getting beat.

And everyone else in college basketball, including NET, RPI, BPI, KenPom, etc. I take it you don’t pay attention to college basketball at all.

What has this team done to get an eight seed then? They'll end up 9-9 in the conference, with wins against KU, @TTU and @KSU.....They have four losses against BU and TCU. Now they have one against UT, a bubble team. They got ***** slapped against Iowa, the only decent non-conference team they played. Please tell me, outside of your precious computer rankings, how this is a decent team....

It's clear we've been broken for a few games now, with the exception of the second half of Monday's OU game. You can point to defense, ball movement, whatever...but when you're broken nothing works like it's supposed to so it's impossible to pinpoint any one thing as the solution.

I will say this...I think this team lacks the "grit" (to use an overused word) that some of our other teams have had. Instead of being able to pull themselves out of funks they often seem to spiral further. The effort can be lackluster sometimes. Perhaps it's as easily explained as the lack of a charismatic leader like a Niang or Naz, or the youth on the team.

But sometimes in my own mind I come back to the comments Prohm made numerous times in the offseason, about the pride of playing for this program, wearing this jersey, playing for each other, etc. This is pure speculation on my part, but perhaps with Lard's issues, NBA talk for THT and Wigginton, and who knows what else is going on...maybe chemistry and egos are a problem.

Lard situation is an unfortunate one, it can cause a division in the locker room with guys taking sides on the issue.

This is what happens when one team shoots out of their minds and the other one does not. ISU did it to KU in Ames earlier this year. Not to say that the defense couldn't have been better, but all those shots were not wide open. I find it hard to blame Prohm for guys missing good shots and not paying attention on defense. The guy burn up all his TOs trying to get things right. Again, this is the product of playing a lot of freshman and first year on the team players. Still going to make the NCAAs this year, and that looked pretty unlikely before the season started. Shayok, Jacobson and the freshman were all better at the beginning of the year than they are now. This team is just plain tired, and not sure how you fix that.

There’s a very real chance this could go down as one of the most disappointing seasons in program history. This was supposed to be a year to bounce back. We had several real shots at winning the Big12. We had a potential tournament path of DSM->KC->MSP. This was Prohm’s chance to show he can rebuild and give us a taste of what he could do. But here we are, the “most talented” team in the conference, trending heavily the wrong direction in March, and outside of 3 big wins where we caught fire from 3, we really don’t have much to show for it.

Sigh. I am a sad man today. This team could’ve been special.

You’re garbage and you’re blinded by your fandom. The end

Says a guy happy we lose.

if there is an expert on being human garbage, it would be you. So maybe I should take your critique in to consideration.

I will definitely give it some thought. Now, go back to trying to pretend you have basketball knowledge.
