Never been to El Bait Shop, looks like I'll have to go! Oh, the Royal Mile and The German place (can't remeber it's name off the top of my head) are good too.

I'd come and revisit the stadium in 2-4 years as we're in the process of massive upgrades. Right now it looks like an overglorified high school stadium - within 5 years, once we get the renovations completed and the south endzone enclosed, it should look like a stadium that actually belongs in the Big XII.

Don't worry, there's no construction going on right now, that stadium expansion is just our pipe dream. Not sure why anyone would suggest you "wait a few years" and then come visit after an expansion that "might" happen.

Hessen Haus! I should have known that. I love their saurkraut!!!!
The Hessen Haus. Make sure you get the boot...
Oh, and if you guys have anybody interested in 2 extra tickets, $50 (total) for the pair. You'll get stuck about 4 seats down from me though.Section G, Row 15.
I'm 26, so college life isn't too far gone. I think we'll most likely stay in Des Moines the night prior (Friday) and then visit and see Ames Saturday.
No night in Ames is complete without the one, the only, FLYING BURRITO
I'm sure some people would argue you need to hit the Gyro man on Welch insted (some may even argue for the Superdog stand), but when I return to Ames I always hit the Flying Burrito!
I still like the old delievery car too

I avoid both FlyBur and the Gyro because of their owner. If you despise the work that the Ames City Council has done in dragging their feet on the new mall (among other things), the blame can go squarely on this person and two other council members.

Oh really? What high school did you go to? I'd love to see any high school stadium hold 55,000 people.
He said glorified, first and foremost.
Secondly, he's largely right. I love JTS, but it really is just a glorified High School stadium at the moment.
There are plenty of high school stadiums that hold 20k+ in the US. JTS is just about 3 times the size of those, with pretty much the same design.
Once we get the renovations done on both sides, and at least get the south end zone bowled in, that might change, but it's not currently the "class of the Big XII".
