Will Prohm ever win a championship?

We can be easy to score on when you spread us out, and run screen and rolls because our guards have a hard time staying in front of people, and lard plays bad position defense, and Jacobson’s not athletic enough..
But how are we still so bad guarding pick and rolls? That’s just practice and execution, then hold guys accountable. Guys are plenty athletic to do that correctly.

I want Prohm here for the long term, but he needs to be willing to make changes quicker. How many times has he said I shoulda done this or that? Then do it. We’re not going to be a great rebounding team; there were questions going into the season regarding shooting. But we should able to guard a PnR.

Side note: I’m pretty sure we’ve had the same stRting lineup every single game this season. That seems super uncommon. No one would have guessed our two best players last year wouldn’t have started a game yet. No even saying Lard and LW should start or not; just that no changes ever is pretty weird.

I disagree on the lineup, Lindell and Cam seem to be ok with it.

The pick and roll has everything to do with our guards not being able to stay in front of anyone. If you can’t stay in front, nothing else matters.

Edit: basketball lineups don’t tend to change lot during the course of the year unless of an emergency

Can't speak for anyone else, but I think it's tough to be overly critical of a coach who takes his team to the NCAA tournament, unless you are a KU, Duke, Kentucky, etc.
Yep. Let's just get to the tourney every year and call it good. No reason to strive for anything better than "just getting to the tournament", i.e. something that's really a pretty mediocre achievement.

I don’t care about you’re opinion. The fact that you’ve been so disingenuous presenting it says everything about your “fandom”

That you’re trying so hard to present a defense of having your “opinion” is also pretty telling as well.

So have at it. If it’s so painful, then the off button on your remote is always an option.
Good news for you, I have every right to share my opinion as yours.

Once again, I was posting during the game. Unless I can see into the future and know it was a loss, this was just a game I was able to sit and interact with people on here.

So basically you have your thoughts and and anyone that disagrees with you you ignore, don't care about ,etc. You seem to be a person very uncomfortable with anyone that has a different thought than your own.

Especially when teams are making it that don't deserve it. OU and TCU are a couple that have losing records in conference but predicted to make the tourney. Same with OU last year.

Maybe they do deserve it because they beat us. Some outsiders believe Iowa State is a good team.

But we should obviously fire our garbage coach.

I never said Iowa State is a bad team. They still have the talent to do very good things to finish of the year. The whole is that Prohm has been making these same mistakes since he got here and it is more frequent and obvious now. Let's see how this season ends, but right now there needs to be real concern about how good he is at his job.

To finish the thread title’s thought, Prohm will never win a championship...until he offers to take the team for McDonald’s chicken nuggets and milkshakes if they win.

I guess, at this point, I can’t be surprised you won’t be honest.

It’s good you’re on to the projection part though.

Hopefully we can win a couple games this week, so you can be upset.

I hate being known as a soft team and that is exactly how teams view us in the Big12. I will wait till the end of the year, but Prohm is struggling to move this program forward.

We were a tough team for two years under Floyd, and two years under Eustachy.

Other than that?

I stayed off CF for the initial meltdown yesterday, but I have enough thoughts that I'll unpack. Glad @Peter retracted his outburst.

This team is in a slump right now, but there is still a lot of basketball left to be played. A lot of teams go through slumps (Kane's team lost 3 straight after beating #7 Baylor at home, and was 3-4 in conference at one point. Heck, they were only 6-5 after getting their asses handed to them at WV), but I think we're freaking out because it's coming at a bad time. Still been a good season and bounce back from last year.

The past couple weeks have exposed us, not as a bad team, but as a team with too many weaknesses to play consistently to win a championship. I'll admit I was one of the ones that bought into the hype and have been let down, but I also didn't expect to be in the conversation going into this season. I maintain my stance that if we have a healthy Solomon things would be different. With him, I don't know if we beat Baylor, but we wouldn't have gotten out-rebounded by that margin. I think we've done a good job this season considering the injuries, suspensions and some bad luck.

Calling us a young team is somewhat of a half-truth. Yes, we have a good balance of young guys and veterans, but most of these guys are competing with each other for the first time this season. Wiggs, Lard and Talley are the only holdovers from last season. We do have freshmen getting meaningful minutes, and lo and behold they've played like freshmen at times. K-State is probably going to win the conference this year, mainly because they have a team of veterans that have been playing together for years. I'm excited to see guys like Tyrese and George develop in this program.

Re: Prohm, is he a perfect coach? No. I think he's stubborn to try things he's not comfortable with, and question some of his substitutions. But I think he's also a young coach with a lot to learn still, and he has a done a fine job rebuilding from last season and rebalancing the classes. Criticism of his coaching is fine, but the speculation of whether or not he's the right man for the job is premature. Especially the select few throwing out McD comparisons; McD's teams each year won 14-15 games, finished in the Big 12 cellar, and had his best players transfer out. We're not close to that point yet. Personally, I want CSP to succeed because I'm tired of cycling through coaches every 4-5 years; I think that's been the elephant in the room as to why we haven't been able to take the "next step" we talk about so much.

I did have to laugh at the poster saying just making the NCAA tournament is "mediocre." Making the tournament is the standard most non-blue blood programs use as their barometer for success. It's how Bruce Weber saved his job a couple years ago.

Rant over. See you all in Hilton tomorrow.

Won't be upset. Want to be wrong, but haven't seen reason to think I am wrong. Objective thinking will do you good.
