i'm not really sure its worth it to worry about seeding with this team.

we could lose as a 4 seed in the first round, we could make the s16 as a 7 seed.

i almost like our chances better if we are a higher seed.

Good point, and I agree it may not matter. However, I'm still hoping we can be a 4 or 5.

I still think seeding is important. None of the tournament games will be at Hilton.

The separation between the teams in the middle teens must be razor thin.

I think what helps us the most in that regard is the Luck rating. This is the deviation between a team's actual record, and what their record would expect to be using the correlated gaussian method. A negative number indicates that the team hasn't been as lucky as most, whereas a positive number indicates a team that has been fortunate.

We have a higher negative rating than any team above us (there are only two teams from 1-12 that have negative luck ratings, Michigan State and Wisconsin. The team immediately below us (Auburn) has a bigger negative rating than we do. So apparently with a couple breaks, our record could be better.

It sounds like it gives a negative "luck" rating to a team that is inconsistent...

Or maybe a negative luck rating to teams who haven’t won close games. In the past, we’ve been incredibly lucky to have buzzer beater wins. Iowa has been very lucky this year.

Do they factor in players rising from the dead right before our game with them? We've had an awful lot of that this year.

It seems like plenty of players get healthy before we play them too. The TCU guy is going to play.

every cyclones fav bracketologist jerry palm dropped us to a 6 seed....in Des Moines lol.

i really don't think it matters what we're seeded - let's just start playing better!!

Sign me up for that!! I would much rather have that path against a 3 seed like Houston or Wisconsin than end up as a 4 or 5 in San Jose.

I've got lower level seats for sale. Special for Iowa/Kansas State fans is $700 for the whole thing! You in?
