I really hope threads like this make it back to Prohm just so he can have a good chuckle over it. Does anything in his brief history at ISU make you think he gives a rat's ass about his sideline attire?
There are some real basket cases on here. Prohm is wearing a blue tie? Matt Campbell to Ohio State Confirmed.
I would think that a polo shirt and any sort of pants would be just fine for coaching attire.
Pants would be considered mandatory, but it's fair game after that.
I'm pretty sure that Boxster has worn an ISU tie to that Order of the Troll thing or whatever it is called that the ISU President hosts.Call me skeptical, but looks shopped. sorry.
I'm wearing a pink tie today. I can't think of a single opponent that wearing that tie would be a problem.I had put on my favorite purple tie, on the night we were playing UNI, in his first game against them since leaving. Luckily one of the other coaches had a back up.
No but it’s a reflection on the spouse. If your kid’s socks don’t match, has buttons missing, or has his oldest T-shirt on for picture day people wonder “what is his mother thinking “ never does the dad get criticizedI really hope threads like this make it back to Prohm just so he can have a good chuckle over it. Hayden Fry....I'm wearing a pink tie today. I can't think of a single opponent that wearing that tie would be a problem.
Looks like a crew that could roll into Applebee’s for some late night half priced apps.I'm pretty sure that the NABC has some kind of 'recommendation' that their member's wear suits on the sidelines but I agree with you. Go to polos, Eric Musselman-style

I had a buddy who was a high school coach up here. I went to one of his games and was surprised that he was wearing a tie that was the other team's colors. Someone told me that he does that for every game. He feels that it gives him and his team a psychological advantage. Something like "We aren't intimidated by you. We'll even welcome you as we are kicking your ass." The guy is a former All-American so I think he knows a thing or two about basketball.
On a related note, did they ever say why both benches were wearing matching (greenish) ties at the last game? Mrs. Velo asked me but I never heard. Was this a Jimmy V or Coaches for Cancer type of thing?
I worked as a manager in the McDermott era and back then everyone on the bench wore suits. The first time I got to sit on the bench I was in the coach's locker room getting changed with the rest of the coaches and started to tie my tie. Coach Mac came up to me and says what the h*ll are you wearing? I was quite perplexed because I thought I looked pretty good. I had put on my favorite purple tie, on the night we were playing UNI, in his first game against them since leaving. Luckily one of the other coaches had a back up.
He was mostly joking, but he certainly noticed. I think basketball coaches should not wear suits, but if you do, I could care less what color tie you wear with it. Just win.
