2/11-12 Winter Weather Thread

Disappointed in the lack of snow updates in this thread. CF is not delivering. I might have to go troll the In-State forum for a bit.

No, no one deserves that. Any of our WX guys have any updates on tracking and amounts?

It's so bad they don't even want to tell us.

It's "not that bad" here in SE Iowa. Radar says we are getting heavy snow but it's really a combination of everything. We've had rain, freezing rain, sleet, and some snow. So totals will be lower here but still a flipping mess.

It was worse in the central part of the southern Iowa, the temp was right at 31 when we got out early from work. The further I drove east the temp climbed to 33. Left work with ice, got home in just rain. But the roads will be horrible when the temps drop and this rain freezes. Long night for the city workers.

Last run by KIMT moved us to solidly in 2-4, trending lower again. Ohhh well! Maybe my one child old enough for school will make it a whole week without having a day cancelled...

Kirkwood closed for evening activities.
My colleagues and I are taking bets if we open for tomorrow morning. It's not looking good given the track record.

They could have taken the time to work on the ice rink parking lots...

The DSM metro roads are shite. Not much snow yet, but what little has fallen is sticking to it. Rush hour is going to be a **** show.

Was wanting to get out early to try and miss the beginning of the storm. No such luck. Pulled out of the lot at 3:05p, and just then the ice pellets began. Decided to avoid the interstate and take the back way home. Slipped and slid stopping at one light, but no harm no foul. 40 minute drive from WDM to Johnston.

Ames doesn't seem to be getting as much snow as they originally projected. Hopefully that holds.
