If we lose the title of this thread is 'To all the Prohm defenders'

The guys not perfect but, he's got a young team playing some great ball. Could be a wild ride this season, but the future is bright and we have him to thank for that right now.

Why do we continue to do this to ourselves after every game?

Win - Prohm is great
Lose - Prohm sucks

Gets tiring
Hey ...first of all, you posted this on the wrong school forum and second, your coach's name is spelled M-c-C-a-f-f-e-r-y! Get it right!

Who's going to start the thread to rant about people who rant about fans who have mild criticisms of Prohm? I swear to God the people you say that want to fire Prohm for Hoiberg 2.0 don't actually exist

Then you clearly were not on here after Saturdays' game, or at least not on the right (or wrong) thread.

Believe me; they exist.

And you know who you are...

Coach Fred Hoiberg, for as much of a legend as he deservedly is, will NEVER coach at Iowa State again, and the sooner you dumba$$es can get that through your thick skulls the better.

Steve Prohm is our coach. He may not have played basketball at Iowa State or be the hometown hero, but he is our coach. And he is a very good coach. Is he perfect or beyond reproach or above criticism? Of course not.

But he is our coach, and if you cannot support him or the program as long as he coaches, and if you hate him so much that you never post on here after big victories like tonight or against Kansas but take the time to scream for his head after a loss like against KSU, guess what? You are NOT a Cyclone fan and whatever ISU apparel you might own needs to be donated to kids in Africa. Time to be a fan of Iowa State, not a fan of one man.

Rant over. Had to get it off my chest.

They can **** off

Love the name calling and the fact folks can't disagree with someone else, whether it be fan, player or coach.
1. I hope most are past Hoiberg. Hope most are judging Prohm based on just his time here and only that.
2. Nobody wants to see Iowa State fail, but to imply disagreeing with the coach makes you less of a fan is ridiculous. He has a horrible record in close games and this team almost did it again with turnovers. Glad that wasn't the case, but his name in close games does not get cleared after one game. Please correct me since I couldn't watch the game, but Heft was freaking out before NWB made the jumper because they were once again standing around and not running any offense. A coach must put guys in a position to succeed.
3. If he isn't above criticism, you can't criticize others for criticizing Prohm, especially when the majority feels like Iowa State let's a game or two slip away. That would make you a hypocrite.
4.You seem to imply you have a wealth of Iowa State apparel. Why don't you donate $$$ to Africa and cut down on the amount of things you own? Materialism is over rated.

Calm response over.

He is talking about the extreme level some dumb ***** take their stupidity after a loss or during what becomes a top 10 road win

He wants to be here which is more than the last guy. I’m a fan.

I love this team and Prohm as much as anybody on this board. He's a very good coach and probably the best recruiting head coach we have had in 20 years.

This is not a young team, though.

Minutes tonight...

36 Weiler-Babb... fifth-year senior
35 Shayok... fifth-year senior
35 Haliburton... true freshman
30 Wigginton... sophomore, played a ton as a freshman, likely his last season in Ames
26 Jacobson... fourth-year junior
24 Horton-Tucker... true freshman
14 Conditt IV... true freshman

This team is an odd combination of old men (Nick, Marial, and Mike), a super-talented sophomore who is probably about to go pro, and precocious freshmen.

I hear "young team" and I hear a majority of our minutes played by freshmen and sophomores, maybe a junior or senior or two. We had 97 of a possible 200 minutes played by men who are at least four years into their college careers, however.

That is not a "young team."

Young teams are not about to lose most of their rotation next year through graduation and probably 1-2 guys declaring for the NBA draft and not returning.

The bottom line is this team is probably gonna be inconsistent until at least mid-February.

There will be good moments and bad moments. But until the full roster plays a lot together and everyone is comfortable and fully back in game shape, weird things will happen.

Don't think anyone's going to the NBA this year. Maybe Wigginton.

Never get too high or too low. I wish our fans on here handled losing better and wouldn't give up on our players and coaches. There are going to be bumps in the road, but am excited to see how this team develops.

I don't do that.

Like I wrote above, CSP is not infallible. But I do think his big wins definitely outweigh the head scratcher losses so far, and I'm sick of people who continue to cry, whine and pine for Fred to come back never give him an ounce of credit for anything because "He's not Fred!"

To me, that's what gets old.

I keep seeing people say this on this site but I very rarely see people pining for Fred.

Never as bad... never as good...

What gets old is the fanatical on either end. But most of us defenders just hate to see fellow fans helping the negative recruiting.

I think most of us can see Prohm has shortfalls, but he has a shitload of strengths. He's not John Wooden or Bill Self, in more way$ than one. But he is our current leader of our student athletes. I'll let JP do his evaluations.

I'll respond to this point by point here...

1) I would hope so too, but as we saw on Saturday, there are most decidedly a select few who are most decidedly NOT over Hoiberg.

2) If you cannot find the time to post after a big win but you can find the time to post after a crappy loss, and if that post is essentially screaming about how much the coach sucks compared to the previous coach, then yeah, I am going to imply that you are "less of a fan". We won a close game tonight, but yet it appears you don't want to give any credit for that. Make up your mind; you cannot have it both ways. And to that point, here's a fun fact for you; up until tonight, going back to last season, our previous three victories against ranked teams were all by double digits; not just hammering Kansas earlier this month, but last season with all the injuries and lack of talent we blasted both Tech and West Virginia by double digits. Funny to me how Prohm's critics of our close losses never seem to remember that nugget. So you admit you didn't watch the game tonight? I hope you have it DVR'ed? If I was you I would watch the game first before trying to sound smart with your back-handed compliments.

3) Do you have reading comprehension issues? I specifically wrote at least twice that Prohm is not above criticism or accountability. My issue is with the "fans" who clearly made up their mind to hate Prohm from the moment he was hired, because he had to replace Fred, whom some "fans" clearly cannot live without.

4) Now you just sound like a f*cking moron.
