Oh would you look who passed him the ball, it was that selfish player. Then that selfish player crashed to the boards to get a rebound if it was missed (just to pad his own stats).

So you mean to tell me that one of our star players actually gets assists every once in awhile? Shocking I tell you, just shocking!!

Am I the only one that thinks this should be the last year we ever have a 12 day layoff before our first conference game?

We will be a good team, some of you are incredibly demanding, it is almost like listening to my wife early in our marriage before she finally figured out I wasn't going to change very much.

Shayok is a very good player, and when we beat Kansas it will probably have a lot to do with how he plays.

Then we will see who some of you will piss and moan about then.

All I want him to do is play smarter, and try to run the offense better. NWB is a master at this, getting the shot he wants and not trying to force things.
That’s a lot different than saying he was playing selfish ball.

It’s not optimal to miss that many shots, even if open, and a few he missed should have been assists imo. But it’s one game and they were shots he has been making.

I get the shooters have to shoot argument, but that shooter must also realize when he is having an off night, to take the ball to the hoop, instead of lofting up 3's. We all loved the shot that Wigginton took to put us up after he was 0-5, because it went in. Myself, I would have rather seen him dump it into the post, where we had position and then go reset in the corner. It was a great shot, only because it went in, if he misses, many on here would be complaining about shooting it there at all, with the guy closing out on him.

I don’t like how a decent chunk of our fan base sees basketball players as robots that need to be programmed. It’s the same crowd as the “can X football player play basketball?” it seems like.

Basketball is about feel and creativity and instincts. Playing with complete freedom is a must. When Wigginton gets that ball for his three in that split second when he feels the pass come to his hands his instinct is that he should take the shot and he will make it...maybe next time he feels that he should pump and drive or dump it in to the post but going against his instinct in that situation would be the wrong play every time. Same with Shayok.

You aren't going to get a much more open look at this level of basketball than Wigginton had. He has to take that shot.

How many times over the last two coaches have we lost games because we struggled hitting the 3 point shot? More than I care to count, no one is saying do not shoot the ball, but a great scorer knows when his shot is off for the night, and then adjusts his game. Both Wigginton and Shayok can do more than hit 3s, they are great at taking it to the hoop, drawing contact and finishing. They are both good free throw shooters, but neither has learned to adjust when their shot is not falling, they just keep shooting them.

Welcome to modern basketball. I hope you can adjust.

more open on every 3 he took last night

All 11 three point shots he took were easier than the one where Wiggington is so wide open he's throwing his arms up for the ball huh? Is that really the story you are going with or do you want to revise your statement?
