ISU is a thin (lean) bodied team. If we make shots from the outside we will win. cold shooting night and the lower tiered teams will challenge or beat us.

This is kind of a lazy assessment - we shot 10/30 from 3 last night on the road in a low-scoring, tough, grind-it-out kind of game and won.

Playing a lot on a bad team does not say much good for you. Most teams that turn their fortunes around do so by turning over much their roster/rotation.

I like Zoran and glad he is a Cyclone -- he is solid bench depth with a high floor, even if his ceiling is limited because he is kind of limited offensively. He is a senior, though, so you kind of know what you are getting compared to a younger player.

I love Lewis -- I think the potential there is still obvious. I still hope/think he morphs into a good bench gunner as a junior and senior. He might never have a full-time starting job or play more than 20-25 minutes per night, but I can see him coming in next year, scoring 12 real fast to put some pressure on a defense, and then tagging back out.

We already turned over most of the roster, but whats wrong with having a couple proven guys that have played against Big 12 competition off the bench? Just because they didnt contribute last night doesnt mean they wont this year.

Every game is going to be a grind, their minutes will be based off matchups and who has the hot hand. I could see Talley playing 15 minutes one game and then 3 the next, same with Lewis.

Take aways of the game:
1. Lindell needs to be on the floor. Period.
2. Lard needs to max out for this team to play their best.
3. Jacobsen looked good in the non-conf but I think he’ll be exposed as a solid #2 off the bench in B12 play.
4. Haliburton is clutch. Reminds me of Naz with those threes. We need to see more of those from him.
5. Shayok seemed like he was having an off night. Needs to slow down with the threes, but can’t really blame him for taking open shots.
6. THT had a rough night, but he still should start over NWB.
1.) When he’s hot, just like several guys on the roster. His defense, passing, and efficiency are still developing. TH, Shayok, NWB are the must be on the floor guys imo.
3.) His defense and rebounding in the Big 10 was good. He’s a better all-around player and fit than Lard, although Lard and Young playing well will be needed.
6.) You’re crazy

I agree. None were necessarily bad shots, but when it's not working for you maybe it's best to pass up that shot, drive it, and try to get someone else a shot.

Shayok is a stud no doubt, but Ive noticed in the last few games he's showing signs of becoming selfish. He's going to need to realize that Wiggington is the best player on the court every night and work more on getting his teammates involved.

He's also going to find that we are in Big 12 play now and his shots are going to be defended much better than the competition theyve played so far.

Guarantee Prohm wants him to take those. There are no yellow or red lights for pretty much anyone the team. Maybe Lard from 3 obviously but I don’t think it even needs to red-lighted.

I agree that TH and NWB are must -play guys. Prohm went with a lineup of those two, Shayok, Wigginton, and Lard for a few minutes in the first half. I'd like to see more of that lineup. Super athletic group and very active defensively.

MS Stats From 3 Previous Games:
Southern: 11-15 FG, 1-4 3 PT, 2 Assists
Drake: 7-16 FG, 2-5 3 PT, 2 Assists
Eastern Ill: 8-13 FG, 3-5 3 PT, 3 Assists

So he's been shooting it great and that somehow translates into him "becoming selfish"? Ok.

His last game before last night he had 23 points on 8-13 shooting, 3-5 from 3 and 3 assists to 1 turnover

How is Wiggington not a must play? He barely played in 2 months and yet he comes in last night and completely takes over the game.

He will be the best player on the floor every night with maybe the exception of Lawson from Kansas and Culver from Tech.

Stats don't tell the entire story, plenty of times where he decides not to run our offense and just drives into the lane. Watch their games, other people are noticing it also, not just me.

Or go watch the Iowa game, he was completely off that night but kept forcing things out of frustration. Im not saying he shouldnt look to score, he could do a better job at shot selecition and passing at times though.

I didnt watch the Southtern or Eastern Illinois games, I did watch the Drake, Iowa, and Oklahoma St games though, so my point still stands.

Good call, throw out any games you weren't able to observe. Point given. I'm not saying he's playing perfectly but to somehow construe him as playing selfishly is a bit out there. Every team has to have guys that "play selfishly" from time-to-time.

Shayok maybe took one or two bad shots but that was it. He missed some shots in the lane that he would probably normally make and some open threes.

THT takes much worse shots than anyone else on the team.
Shayok played "me ball" a lot last night. Make the extra pass, get a better look.

Stats from last night
FG
4-17 .235

3 pt
3-11 .273

Shayok took by FAR the most shots last night

I’m not saying he shouldn’t get a lot of minutes, but the other three have better all-around games. He’ll often be the best scorer on the court, or at least take the most shots, but that’s not synonymous with best player.

I'm nervous with how much this team falls in love with the 3, especially on the break. This team doesn't have a Christopherson or Thomas on it, get your easy points or fouls at the rim.

Overall though, good road win. Glad we have some interior depth with KU coming in
A lot of those three's were wide open, what I don't like is when for example THT does the step back three with a defender in his face. He might make 1 out of 4 of those but with the amount of off offensive talent around him we can get a much better shot. Or when Shayok decides to chuck up a 3 early in the shot clock. Our offense really flows when the ball moves. It gets stagnant when we settle for jump shots.
