Stevie is out at UCLA

Failing at a Blue Blood program with unlimited resources and great recruiting base never looks good on your resume.

Stevie will be lucky to get a head coaching job at a respectable mid-major program. I'd bet he will end up an assistant at a high profile Power 5 school.

His ego couldn't handle that. He would probably step away rather than sit on somebody else's bench.

The sleeper for me to get him is Southern Illinois. If they don't win the Valley or make the tournament, I think they'll move on from Barry Hinson.

This was long overdue. The only reason he lasted as long as he did was because he brought the Ball circus to the program in 2017 and bought himself a couple years and a nice little contract extension.

I can't argue with his recruiting ability but he can't coach to save his life. It speaks volumes that he couldn't get that loaded 2017 group past the second weekend of the tournament.

"UCLA could go a number of ways in its search for Alford's replacement, with former Chicago Bulls and Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg, TCU coach Jamie Dixon and former Phoenix Suns coach and UCLA alum Earl Watson among the likely candidates, multiple sources told ESPN."

Steve will do what all horrible coaches do once they’ve truly been exposed as a horrible coach and can no longer steal money from colleges. Become an ESPN analyst.

True but Prohm is the one who built the relationship with Foster and his family.
Not to say Xavier isn't aware of Fred and his style could be a good fit but likely if he was going to UCLA (or USC) it is more to play in Cali for a historically great program rather than who the coach is. IMO

I wasn't being overly specific about X....just the fact that even way out in LaLa land, Fred could be impacting ISU.

I was listening to a CBB podcast last week and they noted that UCLA has the name but doen't support the team like the UK, KU, or Dukes. The writer noted UCLA facilities are good but not that level and the team does't charter flights for the team. Seems like minor hindrances but when your going against Coach K, Cal and Miller's for 5 stars every little bit makes a difference. Not an excuse for Alford as he has gotten a number of top recruits to Westwood and didn't produce.

It would be easier to for Hoiberg to sell UCLA name than his experience at ISU but he still will need to recruit and I would guess he'd prefer to stay in the NBA if he has that option.

I’d guess Jamie Dixon will get the job.

But that wouldn't be till May when they announce - correct? No way Dixon leaves mid-season?? Even still, TCU will be a head case unless UCLA goes a different option.

Also, I didn't realize UCLA lost Saturday, at home, to Liberty by 15 !! Holy Crap. Also, a loss at home to Belmont a couple weeks ago. Ouch.

His roster this year is pretty bizarre, a bunch of seven footers who are weak as kittens and obviously the wrong mix of guards.
