Heacock is so good

The defense was absolutely phonemenal when they didn't get stuck defending a short field. The tqckling was suspect but talented players will make people look foolish.

The defensive game plan was outstanding. If the offense had been able to be more consistent and didn't put the defense in bad spots a few times, we win that game.

They held WSU to almost 13 points and 124 yards under their average. Has to be considered our best defense ever (or at least in my almost 40 years of watching them play).

Or, if the FG goes bonk and falls over the goal post, we win.

There were about 3 other near misses by our defenders going headfirst at a ball carrier. I don't know anymore what is good or bad technique. Maybe we should just convert over to flag football. We were in the right places all game though. That is for sure.

In the NFL at least, I am borderline saying why not just go back to a similar in the grasp for the QBs or even, if you can touch them, they are down. Not sure how you are supposed to defend some of these guys who are so mobile, Purdy being one of them. If you don't hit them hard and bring them down, they can squirm out and complete the play. The defense is at a tremendous disadvantage with the way they call the game now.

I think he’ll eventually get a shot, but he doesn’t have the numbers to justify declaring early. Scouts will want to see a few more disruption plays- sacks, TFL, passes deflected, etc. Absorbing double teams doesn’t show up on a stat sheet.

Yeah, I should have written that better. It cracks me up that people think he’ll go pro THIS YEAR.

Dude is a stud and absolutely can potentially play on sundays. But it’s not happening this year.

Totally agree! Heacock game plan was excellent! We could have easily had 5 sacks on a team that rarely gives up sacks. As far as next year goes I think we have a chance to be even better. Only things we need to work on is our tackling in space. It wasnt bad this year but not nearly as good as last year and at times we would let a 2yd gain turn into 7yds by just missing tackles or waiting. Some of this was Brian Peavy having a shoulder injury all year which I'm sure will come out soon. Only player that I currently do not see anyone on our roster that can replace his size/speed production/ability is Willie Harvey. that's going to be a bigger loss than we think next year.

But it shows up on film. Lima is a stud

That was a winning defensive performance. D played great overall in spite of the targeting plays. Too many TO's and false starts cost us this game
Yes, what was up with all the false starts?

Based upon the numbers of targeting calls and other non calls against ISU, the (apparent) teaching/motivation techniques have to be questioned. Huge factor in our loss.

OU is going to be dangling some money in front of Heacock this offseason. You can bet on it. Wouldn't be surprised if Riley even gave him a call to spitball about the Bama game ahead of time.

It sounds like their fans want Bama’s Co-DC Pete Golding. There are rumors of him being the next DC at OU.

Heacock just said in an interview he has now desire to go anywhere. He said he would rather coach here with Campbell then go elsewhere to follow money. And if you heard about how hard it was to leave Toledo, you know he is talking the truth.
