The Game

Their defense is only 7 points worse than tOSU. And they play a fast paced tempo. More possessions. Point differential for is actually greater for OU. OU only loss was by 3 points to a ranked team. While tOSU was routed by a mediocre Purdue team 49-20. 29 point rout to a .500 team. Beat a mediocre Maryland team by one point while giving up 51 points. Giving up 51 points to Maryland. Hell Purdue should be in the playoffs. They played a complete game in their dismantling of Ohio State.

Right. It's two really bad defenses. Neither should get in.

OSU will though. That's how these things go.

Has nothing to do with deserving it. OU needs to take care of business. Put a pasting on Texas and avenge their only loss. If CFP bypasses them then, there should be outrage.

Jerry Palm has Ohio State in over the Sooners. Unbelievable. Oklahoma has lost one game to Texas by 3. Ohio State got creamed 49-20 by a mediocre Purdue team. And he acts like that terrible loss and everything else in the season doesn’t matter because they beat Michigan. The twisted logic to put the Buckeyes in is crazy.
I would put Ohio State ahead of OU - just like Palm has. Both teams have had dips this year; OU needed overtime to beat Army at Norman.
Always been a Sooner fan - they've been the bell cow for the Big 12 ever since the conference was formed. But they need to paste a mediocre Texas team (who look awful against KU) to be in the top 4 in my book.

I'm so tired of the ESPN B1G homers. Just makes me sick. The Big 12 will never have a shot with all the national media spreading negative myths about this conference every single week of the season.

What tOSU proved yesterday vs Michigan is that a high powered offense will destroy a good defense almost every single time. And who has the best offense in the country? OU.

So even though OU and tOSU have bad defenses, they can still win with their offense. Michigan had the #1 defense in the country, and got pasted by a good offense.

tOSU's loss is WAY worse than OU's loss. And yes tOSU had a great win yesterday, but it was at home, whereas OU beat #13 WV on the road in a hostile environment, and ESPN gives them no credit for that because WV scored 50+. Well, having WV put 50+ on you is MUCH better than having a horrible Maryland team put 50+ on you.... or getting pasted by 29 by a very average Purdue team.

This morning on ESPN, one of the commentators said if the 4th spot comes down to the B1G champion or the Big 12 champion, he would take the B1G champion every time. Uhhh...... wut? So just automatically he would always take the B1G champion over the Big 12 champion every time...... just because.... well..... you know..... B1G baby!

Gotta love objective analysts like that.

I really want OU to be selected as the 4th - the Big 10 getting left out might be the thing that triggers a larger playoff field.

Me too, but has that EVER happened? I know the opposite has happened. I'll never forget TCU getting completely robbed on the last week of the season by dropping from 3rd to 5th by pasting ISU by like 40 pts or something like that, just so they could move tOSU up into the playoff.

OU Loss to nationally ranked Texas by 3 points versus Ohio State losing to unranked Purdue by 29 points. 49-20. Ohio State has a MUCH worse loss.

And the argument about OU defense and Ohio State defense is BS. Ohio State gave up 49 points to Purdue and 51 points to Maryland last week. The better defense argument is BS as well.

OU has a tougher schedule. And Texas is a better opponent in the CCG. Northwestern lost to freaking Akron at home.

CFP is supposed to be judged for the SEASON body of work. Not one game against a Michigan team that was over rated.

I remember. The thing is, I saw that coming with that being little old TCU. OU is just as much of a blue blood as tOSU, so it shouldn't be as easy to justify.

Patty Fitz will push OSU if Oklahoma does their part, they're in.

On the contrary, Texas lost to Maryland and looked terrible in just their last game - against Kansas. Yes Kansas. Texas is not better than NW.
Oklahoma, to have a case, needs to dominate Texas.

If tOSU doesn't jump OU in this week's poll, how could you possibly have tOSU jump OU if OU beats Texas and tOSU beats NW next week? Texas is a much tougher opponent than NW.

The College Playoff Rankings disagree with you.

Tornado Man is a very well known BIG worshipper.
He would donate his left nut to join the BIG so he takes every chance to rag on the BIG 12.

First game of the year. At Maryland. Yes Texas Lost. Which is worse? A loss to Maryland or a loss to Akron? Akron is 4-7 overall. 2-6 in the East Division MAC for 5th place. Maryland is 5-7 overall. 3-6 in the East Division of Big Ten for 5th place. And that Maryland team was defeated by 1 point and put up 51 points against Ohio State last week. That certainly does not help Ohio States argument that they should be in the CFP.

Kansas is not good. But they routed Rutgers 55-14. And they beat TCU. And Ohio States win over TCU is being hyped as a good win in justifying Ohio State for the CFP.

By any metric Ohio State is not qualified for the CFP if you consider the SEASON. Those hyping Ohio State are placing too much emphasis on the single game against Michigan. Why not just put Purdue in the CFP since they routed Ohio State by 29 points and beat them 49-20. That is even worse than what Ohio State beat Michigan. IF OU beats Texas in the CCG they will have avenged their only loss. And Texas is better than Northwestern by any metric.

Army is 9-2 and ranked in the Top 25.

Duke had no problem with them?

6 teams had no problem with Purdue. Yet unranked 6-6 Purdue routed Ohio State by 29 points. 49-20. 49 points allowed in that game by that terrific Ohio State Defense. That was the most points in a game that Purdue scored this year. Eastern Michigan 7-5 from the MAC Conference beat Purdue.

At least Oklahoma only got beat by 3 points by #9 Texas. A top 10 team.
