The Huskers of the 90s could have played 12 guys on the field and the world would have said "you sure you don't want 13??"

but these ain't the 90s...

Here is a decent article on the legal aspects of backing out. I guess I don't read it the same way the author does. They seem to rely on that "failure to produce" language, which is obsolete in my mind because Akron produced a team. As for the other paragraph, I don't see the "including but not limited to" language that is usually included when something is meant to not be an exhaustive list. That paragraph sure reads like they specifically identified certain occurrences that would render it impossible, and weather was not one. I'm not sure you'd want to have to use the argument that the storms made it "impossible" to play the game either.

I believe I had read that Nebraska was wanting to play the game that Sunday (the next day) and had secured some housing for Akron but they didn't want to do it.

More evidence that Iowa State has higher ethics than the Fuskers!

The big 10 at least keeps consistent with their shady behaviors of sex scandals and violence. Now the Hoks aren’t paying their hospital construction bills and kNU is not paying for the visiting football programs.
Thank God I’m a Iowa State fan!

Looks like the NCAA granted Bethune Cookman the waiver to play a 12th game. The article also says Akron's travel cost will get covered, as well as at least some portion of their game check. But the sticking point was that Nebraska had found housing for the Akron team which allowed them to play Sunday and they said "no thanks". JP specifically said that was the eliminating factor for our game against SD State.

Yeah, they hatched a plan to put the team up in dorm rooms.

I don't think turning that down is grounds to withhold a dime of their contract. Man up, Fuskers, and recognize that the team held up its end of the bargain and pay them.
