I was absolutely fine until this morning when I woke up with a head ache, then I started getting body soar around 4 and feverish around 6 or 7, so hopefully it will just be a quick 24 hour thing. Especially since I have my first team video conference tomorrow.....
Is that when you are so light headed you feel like your whole body is floating?

Hey CG I'm assuming the Madison shooting didn't have anything to do with DH's company? All I know is that he does something computery.

Spent the night in Wx old stomping grounds I do believe Wichita KS. Back to Ia thru KC so some BBQ for me on the way home. Who knows maybe even a quick stop at Boulevard;).

He was safe and sound - other side of town. But that was scary.

Interesting take from the Packer/Viking game Sunday.....seems like everyone except the NFL brass is angry with the phantom roughing-the-passer calls. Patrick Reusse, long-time and well-respected columnist for the Minneapolis Star/Tribune, even penned a column that pretty much shamed referee Tony Corrente and the NFL for the call on Clay Matthews.

When the opposition's writers are calling them out, you know something's not right.
To be fair, the Twin Cities isn't quite like most NFL markets. There are a lot of Packers fans here probably for a couple of reasons. The metropolitan area sits right next to the border so Wisconsin isn't far away and before the Vikings existed the closest and most successful NFL club was in Green Bay so a lot of Minnesotans became Packer fans. It is a rivalry, but there are enough Packer fans here to force the media to not be too homerish when it comes to that rivalry. When they are talking about any other opponent they are as big of homers as they come. At least that is what I have seen in the couple of decades I have lived up here.

I am not a fan of either one, but when I saw that replay I thought it was really bad. Why do these calls that cause an uproar always seem to happen with Green Bay on the field? This one, Dez catch/no catch, endzone interception/TD call against Seahawks...

My high school was purple and gold which I hated. To make matters worse we had purple and gold hats with nothing but a big zero on them.

The only thing worse was my previous school was black and gold and their fight song was the hawkeye fight song. I would have been okay with the black and gold if I didn't have to hear that hawkeye **** along with it. I did like the logo though which was unique.

Somebody out there is thinking I know exactly which two schools you went to. Don't out me. ;)

My first school was Kelly green and gold but for football we went darker to be more like GB but with green helmets. My senior year I ended up with purple and yellow, it was painful. Home was all purple satin pants, purple jerseys and yellow helmets with purple writing and facemasks. Away was a disaster with white jerseys instead. Everyone basically had black shoes and any other stuff like gloves or braces. So we were all over the place with them. I guess we had yellow belts that laced through also.

I figured it was so MN people could follow a winner. The vikes aren’t good and neither is anything gopher.

When I played at Waldorf College, we had white pants, purple jerseys with white letters, and white helmets with a purple stripe. Pretty basic, but I thought it was pretty cool.

You play for Bolstorff? He was there awhile. Crutchfield made him look good for a bit.

Actually, the Vikes are pretty good - even I have to admit that - and Sunday it sure seemed like they were evenly matched. Gotta say that if Rodgers had been 100%, it might have been a different result, as he missed some throws that he normally makes.

Yep. My Dad and Bolstorff played for Waldorf back in the 50s. Denny Jerome was the OC, and he brought a lot of talent from Ohio and Indiana. Kids who couldn't make grades at the big schools and came to Iowa to get eligible.

They are good, I will admit. They just can’t get over the hump. They seem to refuse to rebuild. I’ve thought that most championship teams rebuild periodically. The vikes are always close and just hang there and try to tweak things. Good teams seem to have a poor year where they clean house get the house redone.

Bruce would hide kids there occasionally also. Helps when you have guys like that dropping kids in your lap. Bolstorff was kinda like Osborne, when the triple option stopped being effective, his time had gone.

Next telemarketer who calls......I’m gong to start selling them some stuff. Not give them any time to talk and start pushing car warranties and long term care to these folks. Maybe house siding also.

I wish ISU had as much success as the Gophers have had. Here is a snippet of their successes just since the turn of the century:

WBB Final Four 1
MGolf Nat Champ 1
MHockey Frozen Four 5, Nat Champ 2
WHockey Frozen Four 13, Nat Champ 7
WRowing Nat Champ 1
WVolleyball Final Four 5
MWrestling Nat Champ 3

Again, this is just since the turn of the century. That's 14 championships. ISU has had 18 in our entire existence.

Note: I didn't include spirit squad or dance in either total because it would skew the Gopher numbers. But since 2000 UofM has 12 Dance Team National Championships. ISU has 2. I'm not sure how that works since both claim national titles in 2016 and 2017.

EDIT: Something isn't right here. I'm checking my sources since I think some championships are missing from ISU's total.

I found an error but it didn't affect the total. They had the 1987 Wrestling Championship (Jim Gibbons) listed as 1978 (Harold Nichols).

Hawk fans on their fan boards love to mock the Gophers, mostly because of football, but outside the elite national programs they have one of the best overall programs in the country, particularly in women's sports.

Outside of cross country we have no shot at a national title in any sport. I'll never live long enough to see it happen again.

I had a guy who claimed to be a Texas college student doing research on Minnesota politics call and want to interview me a little after 10 pm the other night. I said that it was after 10 pm, why would you cold call people that late at night? I have kids in bed here. He said it wasn't 10 pm where he was - I was like it's not 10 pm in Texas? I later learned that a small chunk of Texas is indeed in the mountain time zone. Regardless after 9 pm is a little late to be calling and you should know the time zone of the place you are calling.

I'll admit I wasn't very nice to him.

Iowa claims 5 national championships, the last being in 1960. U of M has 7 national championships, the last being in 1960. Iowa hangs their hat on 5 of their 13 conference championships coming since 1980. The gophers have 20 conference championships but none since 1967.

Back when i grew up the Gophers were still good in football. 14 year old 5-foot tall me used a Gopher stadium pad in order to see over the hood of the '58 Buick (BIG car, yo!). Even in the heart of Hawk country no one said a thing about it because at that time Iowa was the Kansas of the Big 10.
