Nebraska lost to Troy!!

Not posting about hating Nebraska, just stating facts. The players you referenced were removed from the programs after those incidents.

Nebraska fans' issues are that Nebraska hasn't been that good for almost 20 years, and aren't going to get to where they were.
Again, I’m ok with people not liking the Huskers, I’m just saying my experiences with their fans are quite different. I kinda feel like how some people on here talk about Nebraska is similar to how Hawk fans talk about us with respect to having faith in our team and being optimistic.

I like Nebraska. I think the overwhelming majority of their fans are very reasonable and are great to opposing fans. I’m in the Omaha area for work a lot and listen to plenty of their local sports talk—I just don’t get where people on here come up with their fans being so terrible or having unreasonable expectations. My experience is that they know this is a rebuild and will take time but they are still thrilled to have Frost as a coach.

I think many people around here hate them because they feel like they’re supposed to hate them for some reason. Their fans are no different than ours.
Nebraska never really bothered me until I moved to Omaha. Listening to them talk about the Huskers 24x7x365 got old real fast

That might eventually happen but probably not for awhile. If they still are sucking next year, things will get ugly.
Too lazy to do my research but I think their schedule gets quite a bit harder from here. Could be some Riley style blowouts yet to come.

"Quite a big harder", now thats an understatement, esp with road games AT...Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Iowa....lol.....Nebbie has lost 6 games in a row and 9 of the last 10 games.....Historically bad by Nebbie standards...I would like to know who the genius was that got the Huskers to move to the B1G? Oh I remember Tom Osborne....good luck playing in the big 10.....

During on of our '80s beatdowns at the hands of the Fuskers, one of their fans turned to me and said-- "I wish you guys didn't suck so bad and you could just hold us one time. Our punter really needs the practice". He was dead serious.
I could never see a Cyclone saying that to an opposing fan.

Gee You just described "Entitlement"

There’s a reason for eons their fans were/are called Jayskers. Nebraska football fans and Creighton basketball fans.
Hell, Nebraska’s old basketball arena was named after a football coach.

Did I hear they had to pay Troy 1.5 million for that game?

1.15 million

NU fans were horrific during the 80's & early 90's.

Never forget that they voted WITH Texas to F the rest of the conference by supporting unequal revenue sharing. Then bitched like little girls about how Texas was trying to run the conference and as such they needed to go to a more level playing field in the B10.

3 things killed NU football.
A. No more partial qualifiers in the B12.
B. Scholarship limits...no more 80 kid classes of HS linemen to be put on full feed and pick out the best 20 until you had 2 deeps of all pro type guys for JR & SR years.
C. Leaving the B12 they killed their TX pipeline for skill players.

There is no changing those 3 things.

Frost is a good coach...but he's not going to go to OH & MI and pull kids from there to NU.

Especially that last one. Give them credit, Nebraska was well respected in football in the Big8 years. Bob Devaney and Tom Osborn built a good program, with lots of ties to high school coaches throughout the Big8 region. When Nebraska left for the Big10, they severed ALL of the ties to high school programs that Devaney and Osborn took decades to build. No high school kids in their old recruiting areas would want to have anything to do with a Big10 team, and no high school kids in the Big10 areas they were having to recruit have any familiarity with Nebraska as a good football team.

I understand Dosry’s attempt at being kind, but I think it’s trumped by Nebraska’s arrogance (fans and media) throughout the Big 12 years and its departure to the Big 10. They smugly left 100 year old rivals to die on the vine, and....rubbed their noses in it. I remember some of the local media here bloviating that the Iowa-Iowa State rivalry would now take a back seat to Iowa-Nebraska in this state....RIIIIIGHT. An absurd premise that has played out probably worse than anyone could have imagined. So Nebraska followers have earned all the karma that’s coming their way.

Now, the word “delusional” gets used a lot by every fan base in describing their rival fans. But in Nebraska’s case the delusion is still pondering whether they can return to being a nation power, when the the more appropriate question is can they avoid becoming Purdue or Rutgers. Right now they’re a lot closer to the latter than the former.

So true. In hindsight, with their attitude, it has been "good riddance" to get them out of our conference. The Big XII may have many problems, but it is much better now than when conference meetings were dominated by Nebraska puffing out its chest every time Texas entered the room. They don't work and play well with others.

Frost is a good coach and can get them back to 8-4 or 9-3 but he won't pose a consistent threat to Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State or Wisconsin in that conference.

They also would take a pile of Nebraska kids as walk-ons. Kids that loved being part of that program and would get their head bashed in at practice everyday, with very few seeing the field. I am sure that isn't the case now and there is probably less talent in Nebraska now compared to the past. The former Nebraska player network in Nebraska is a tight group though and brining a former Husker back will make that group happy.
