What type of opening?

Instructor position at Alabama A&M.
Odds are good that I'm overqualified and too pricey. They're seeking at least an M.A. and the app asked about salary.

I went with $45,000 to stay low, but I'd bet they're aiming to pay a grad student working on their PhD about $25-30k.
I think the job is replacing a PhD Candidate (or recent grad) from the U of Iowa.

As things go, if you're going to live in Alabama, this school is about the perfect spot.
Huntsville sounds all right and affordable. Interesting, too.
I actually really like the south climate wise and the people are friendly... Though I am white. New Orleans is nice as is baton rouge

It's hard to believe no one started a thread on those Thai soccer players in that cave. They got 4 of them out this morning. They were immediately put on a chopper to get them to a hospital.

They should be starting the next phase in a few hours. The actual rescue takes 11 hours. 5 hours to get there and 6 hours to get back with 1 hour of rest time. In between each attempt they have to send divers in to stock up on oxygen tanks to use along the way.

Been through there, last February, but it was just a drive thru on our way back from Tennessee. Oshkosh is going to take us off the beaten path for quite a ways, but oh well...

Which day will you be there? Make sure to go to Ardy and Eds.

My doosh BIL who is currently running 452 miles and will soon be putting his map my run on every social media form known to humanity doesn’t want kids yet always wants to borrow mine to play video games and hang. I wouldn’t trust him with my dog’s poop let alone my kids.

He told my then seven year old a story about drugs, oral sex, and the emergency room once, I don’t leave my kids alone with him for even a second now.

Once when he was with the wife he dumped for gaining ten pounds in ten years and ruining his life by no longer being trophy wife, they kept pestering to have the oldest two go stay a weekend. Second oldest said don’t worry Mom, if we ever have to stay with Uncle Doosh, his big brother, who was 14 at the time could be the adult. Even an 11 year old can recognize a know it all egomaniac with Peter Pan syndrome.

Ah, I have missed the doosh BIL rants! :D Seriously, guy really seems like a total ****.

I'm not a car person, CERTAINLY not @BoxsterCy , but I can appreciate a nice classic car. Driving home from work this afternoon, and saw a "ZZ Top" car. (Google tells me it was a 1930's Ford Coupe) And it was this gorgeous shade of red. Like 1940's, woman's classic red lip red. License plate said "DOUCRED"

Really good-looking car.

As a tribute to Carver's doosh BIL here's my Sunday ride summary!

No Map My Ride stats for me to worksheet tabulate...phone overheated and took a shutdown dump at 8 miles because it got too hot.

Summary: Hot. Windy. Did not die. Saw monarch butterflies around two lakes, so not extinct here, yet.

Note: So hot that I actually zipped down my bike jersey, rarely do I do that. Nobody wants to see old man chest and I just don't have the cleavage for it.

He gets there late afternoon on Tuesday (the 18th). I think we're going to meet him then (I'm not even sure if he's flying or driving...PapaLew talked to him), spend the night, then leave the next afternoon and drive til we fell like stopping. First game in Columbus is Saturday evening, so we should still have time for a relaxed drive to Ohio.
What is Ardy & Eds?

9th hole at Homewood over the ravine. 125 yards, 9 iron, hit it so well I was sure it went over so I searched behind the green for a bit before realizing.

Whenever I play there I consider getting my ball over that ravine a win. Props on the hole in one.

I always get **** for this, but unless you’re under the age of 10 or have children under the age of 10, fireworks are ******* stupid. Like, can you really not find anything better to do than waste money on **** that’s going to make a loud sound for half a second? Get a life.

That will be the last calm before the storm and probably the last night or so of decently priced hotel rooms in the area.

Ardy and Ed’s is an old drive up restaurant complete with real car hops (that are not bad on the eyes) and their own root beer. It’s about a block from the lake

Just about a perfect weekend. Volunteered at MC bike races, bike rides on both Sat and Sun, short one on Sat because of heat and head winds no Boxster like endurance for me. Sunday ride was longest of the yr for me 30+, hardest part was the darn big hill dropped the chain down shifting had to put chain back on and restart at grade that was disappointing. Good lunch of steak & salad, then to MC again for the slow roll 40+ people this evening by far the biggest crowd of the yr, just about a perfect night for it though. Nice mix of Fat biking and road biking for the weekend.

Ride your bike to work tomorrow Wx isn't it only like 5 extra minutes. No parking problem then just take your bike to your office.

Not trying to speak for him but my #1 issue with biking to work is that you're kind of sweaty when you walk in. Now a few places have employee showers but my understanding is that it's a rarity.

I don't have to deal with it now but the ability for public or extremely easy transportation is high on my list of I ever leave.

I've just bought a nice bike a few months ago and starting to get miles in. I would love to use it for my grocery runs down the road a bit at a minimum.

If I ever leave Dallas I would want to live in a place with fantastic public transportation (ie Subway) or easy access anywhere by foot or bike. Dallas is pretty much the opposite and it's probably my biggest issue with the city. I would absolutely love not having a car. Hell I've driven 4,000 miles in 3 years on my car. That's absolutely nothing. If my insurance wasnt so cheap I would sell the thing.

Damn 4,000 miles in 3 yrs, I've came close to that in a single month if it's a busy work month and a few fun events thrown in.
