Neighborhood did fireworks last night so I sat in baby's room watching cause I didn't want to get eaten alive. Thought how baby would be big enough to watch next year and tell that to DH this morning. He's like but it'll be past their bedtime.

Guess we know who's going to be the fun parent.......

9th hole at Homewood over the ravine. 125 yards, 9 iron, hit it so well I was sure it went over so I searched behind the green for a bit before realizing.

Cool. Haven't played Homewood since the '70's with my Hawkeye buddy Marsha. She used to put little witches curses on your putt when you were trying to putt.

One of those days where I keep having to ask myself "Is that thunder, fireworks or a big Delta airliner?"

Going to go with "Yes."

Looks like this current round of rain might be the last so the invite I got for supper BBQ is on.

I see per the radar that the BCC storm magnet is again in effect for northern Iowa.

We have friends that put on a private show so we always go out there. LittleWx did great...his sister on the other hand fell asleep during them. Both came home and went to bed great. Slept until 7 and she took another 3.5 hour nap this morning.

Now, to figure out this whole needing to go in the middl

Z hasn't shown interest in going till this year. I asked her to think about it and a quarter till 9 I asked I'd she wanted to go. We ended up with a great parking spot and walked halfway around the stadium and ended up in the best spot to watch them.

She had lots of fun and got to bed right away.

Ours is Saturday. We usually have kids/grandkids visiting, & the weekend is better. :)

Picked up another 1.5" of rain today so far not really needed but less than some got. Ride went well little over 40 miles in about 3 hrs. Break in Clarion was nice had a ice cream drumstick for breakfast. Glad I didn't have to ride back though.

2 things.

Brandy Taylor is a porn star to me so I'll never take a name like that seriously. For better or for worse.

The other is what do you guys think of Houston, TX? I'm arguing in an airport and want to know y'alls thoughts

As someone who just moved to Houston, it's kind of 'eh.' It's not a horrible place to live (assuming you don't have a 45 mile commute), but in my mind there is nothing here that says 'You want to know where I want to live? Houston.' There is not really a major redeeming quality.

Like others have mentioned, it's hot, humid, really spread out, prone to flooding, extremely flat, and has a ton of traffic. I'm sure there are some interesting parts to downtown Houston, but it's so damn hot and muggy that it's not worth it (personally) to go exploring during the one day off a week I have off.

My sisters & I have always referred to it as the armpit of Texas.
Strangely enough, our cousins did not approve...

The number of people complaining in the city FB group about fireworks is insane. I have never been in a war zone but I could probably imagine this is not what it sounds like.

My son spent time at the Baghdad airport in 2005. There was an area of the base they referred to as "mortaritaville" due to the continual mortar bombardment it received. He generally celebrates the 4th with noise-cancelling headphones and a tequila, but he doesn't begrudge others their celebration. It's real, but each person deals with it differently...and sometimes non-affected people crusade harder than the affected people. :(

I was in Baghdad in 2004. I'm familiar with that area. Running for cover while someone is trying to end your life became just a part of our daily routine. I can enjoy fireworks now. It wasn't always that way but my oldest is a fourth of July baby. He brought me back!

You probably have a good idea of how grateful I was that he didn't share that nickname with me until he returned stateside. :D

I always get **** for this, but unless you’re under the age of 10 or have children under the age of 10, fireworks are ******* stupid. Like, can you really not find anything better to do than waste money on **** that’s going to make a loud sound for half a second? Get a life.

Each of us have our own things we enjoy. I like sparklers and fountains and ground spinners. I also have a life. Mine, not yours. :)

Get a life, granny!!

(Sparklers and ground spinners are acceptable.)
We actually both like the high aerials that DON'T boom - we try to find those when we shop. Neither of us likes the strobes or the boomers that just make noise without any pretty stuff falling. The grandkids beg for the parachutes every year. So we probably do one of the least noisy displays around. :)
