Hopefully you got some BBQ while in Kansas City.
We tried to go to Q39 on Saturday night but the wait was ridiculous so we went to a pizza place next door which was delicious. Sunday afternoon we ate at Dickey's Barbecue Pit which I guess is like a Subway but for barbecue. It was really good but I suppose we didn't go to any of the 'big name' barbecue places like Arthur Bryant or Jack Stack.

Another observation from this weekend. I-74 between the Peoria and Indy appears to be getting new bridges over every little creek. So that was fun.

So after a fun week of fishing, we got to the final rendezvous point to unload the trailer and load our personal vehicles at about 8:30 pm. Yeah, right in the middle of the deluge.

Finally got to my home street at about 10 pm (normally a 15 minute drive took about 40), and the low spot in our street had two cars stalled in it. Water was about halfway up some of the mailboxes. I thought I could squeeze my pick-up between one of the cars and the mailboxes, and because the truck rode higher than the cars, thought I would still be okay. It was a little deeper than I realized, but kept moving, cleared the cars, then stalled about ten feet past them, and forty feet from my driveway. I did get it started again and drove to my driveway, where I again stalled out. One more shot and got it into the garage.

Turns out, the other way to my house (other end of the street), which is usually the bad spot, had a new sewer reconstruct -- while I was gone last week.

Yesterday, I was going to my daughter's place, got part way through the neighborhood (maybe a 1/4 mile), and the truck was just not acting right. So I turned around and it stalled again twice before I finally got it home.

Luckily, my daughter's car was still there (her mother and her are visiting the in-laws) so I am using it for work. After reading what CAN happen after driving through a flooded street, I'm coughing up the money to get it towed from my garage to my mechanic. Crossing my fingers it's not something major.
