In before someone says to move him to TE

Great pickup. I think it will pay off to have a variety of different types of targets on the field.

This staff sure likes the tall receivers, which I love. Obviously you have to throw in a couple smaller speedy slot guys too, like Jones, Akers, and Milton, but I love all the tall targets we have.

I think sometimes coaches get too concerned about having smaller, fast guys that can get behind defenses, and take a short pass to the house, while overlooking guys that are basically always open because of their height and can sometimes extend plays with pure strength.

I am reasonably sure that Darien Porter will be able to get behind defenses, and take a short pass to the house.

I’m on my phone, or I’d add a really contented emoticon here.

There is certainly a place for speedy guys, like Ryen last year, but tall, possession type WRs are undervalued by some programs.

And fit. It's still pretty early in the regime but it seems like they're not just pulling talent for talent's sake. The kids coming in fit in the culture they're building in Ames.

In support of this comment, 2 Ivy offers.

Ask Iowa if tall WR's like Hakeem Butler can get behind defenses.
