Husband is sitting out in the elements at Marshalltown for a doubleheader in softball. (No press box) You can hear the wind howling across the mic. (weather.gov says 21 mph with 30 mph gusts) Then, he either got sunscreen or dust in his eye, causing him to call the game with one eye. THEN! For some reason this year, his "occasional" seasonal allergies have turned into full-blown allergies. He's sniffing every other sentence. Yes, he took an OTC non-drowsy antihistamine. But, he didn't take it until he got there. Yep...he's a mess.

Oh...and I played this as a bumper coming back from commercial early in game one...

I was in radio right after I graduated from ISU, and I can remember doing lots of play-by-play for local sports. Girls' softball was one of my favorites - but I have respiratory allergies too, and occasionally I'd get a snootful of some sort of pollen and start sneezing. No way to cut the mic, of course, so I had to hold my hand over it and lean away. Didn't always get the job done, though. That was good for lots of comments from our listeners.

Internets went down yesterday, back by tonight they must have bubble gummed & duct taped it enough to limp along certainly didn't fix the speed at all.

Holy cow the gnats are TERRIBLE in my area. They freaking maul you as soon as you step outside. Really got warm (hot) and windy today. Drank a half a gallon of water while working then probably another quart or more with supper.

If things go right tomorrow I should finally finish #longspring18. looking forward to that.

Rhubarb I transplanted are looking really good will need to get them weeded some time along with getting my yard remowed.

We lost ours, too - it seems to happen way too often.

And gnats, yeah....I'm doing a side job replacing a huge deck for some folks, and I have been applying OFF for the mosquitoes - but it doens't even slow those gnats down! They get in your nose, your mouth....ugh.

Looking forward to some fresh rhubarb cobbler soon. Not often, though - don't want to slam my blood sugar too badly!

Had an EAA chapter meeting/social/awards ceremony last night. Apparently they give out a chapter MVP award and for the first time in my life I am not the MIP.

Put a potty chair in the corner he frequents. :)

That's the plan. Usually it's a good sign if they go hide or do something specific every time they go. That means they know when they are going to go and if you just get them to go to the potty instead of hiding, then they should catch on quickly.

My first two kids were home with their mom full time, so they potty trained over the summers and basically went bottomless until they got it with a potty chair in the living room. Surprisingly few accidents and they were potty users pretty quickly.

Yesterday afternoon they cancelled the girls' soccer game due to lack of refs. Why did they cancel that particular game so early? They know there are at least five refs on the team and canceling that one means those girls can fill the vacancies in all of the other games. Daughter's phone rang just a few minutes after her game was cancelled with offers to ref other games. She took two but the second got called due to lightning. It worked out because the cancelled one was the same time her game would have been so they wouldn't have been able to play anyway.

I've been there enough that I know my way around pretty well using the subway system and walking. Well, at least around the mall and downtown areas. We are most likely going to stay in Arlington, Reston or Bethesda. Those places seem to have the best combination of price and accessibility to metro lines when we're going.

I used to stay near the Kings Street Station in Alexandria. There's an Embassy Suites, Wyndham and Hilton within a block or so of the station. Big Whole Foods right behind the Suites too.

The one we're looking at in Alexandria is near Rosslyn station. It's also right across the bridge from Georgetown. Unfortunately, it's still close enough in that you have to pay for parking.

Kind of a @wxman1 thing. Why don't all of these people running around with smarty phones with hundreds of apps ever look at a weather app or check radar? The Lifetime group I am thinking of joining to bike ride with got caught in the thunderstorm that blasted through here early evening. Anyone looking to leave on a 600 ride could have seen this nasty ass red/yellow blob on the radar west of us and seen that by 700 or 730 it was going to blow through. I watched it arrive through the windows at an ISU reception and it was nasty. But I also knew it was coming and drove my least valuable auto just in case it had hail. It did not not hail but man did it blow.

To paraphrase Chico Escuela, "Keep your eye on da sky."

Baseball been very good to me.
