Teaser trailer: Transfer U

Is this a national theatrical release or a Netflix exclusive?

Honestly, 30 for 30s were the inspiration. So basically, we are launching a 30 for 30 type of podcast series on Iowa State stories. All going to be their on docu-series.

Another one we will begin work on soon is the untold stories behind the 1998 Cy-Hawk game, which IMO changed Iowa State football forever.

Stuff like that. I've never been more excited about a project in my career.

Gotta do a first month of the Campbell hire. From him making the decision to come to ISU to assistant hires to putting together recruit lists. Of course, maybe you'll need to wait until all of the recruits/players in question graduate.

That'd be cool. But 2000-01 would be more intriguing (and more difficult to produce and consume).

Can't wait for the 2005 Football What If?

Both of these are very intriguing imo....the collapse of the 2002 football season might be interesting too. That team went from darling to total landslide in a hurry. But it feels like they're putting a positive spin on Cyclone lore which is cool too.

I personally fail to see how a bad ISU team beating a bad Iowa team in 1998, two years before ISU even had a decent team, is program changing but perhaps there's more to the story. Still think it's going to play into Hokdom's favor for trash talk too.

If you don’t get the significance of that game, you weren’t an ISU fan back then. Just imagine how brutally arrogant hok fans were having won 15 straight. At that point it was almost inconceivable that ISU could or would ever beat them.

Yeah, I was there....new to ISU and went to the game for the heck of it.

I didn't realize what I'd just seen, but i remember grown men cussing toward me at the game and after walking around..and I didn't even do anything. Just this raw anger/disbelief on their faces...and as we all know, we won the next three. I think it was the turn in terms of us being no worry to them having to confront the Hayden era was ending and we actually had excitement/upward trend.

I remember the game well enough...it was a surprise and the consensus was that Iowa wasn't very good. Neither was ISU. Still don't see how the program pivots off of beating a bad team. If ISU goes on to be decent that year, then perhaps it's different.

And once a program detailing that feat gets out there, you can bet that arrogance will be right back up there from Hokdom.

Mabye the sequel will be “Jared’s next date”. In all seriousness this looks cool.

I think you're right and wrong.

Iowa was not good that year.

Iowa was a huge favorite going in, this was a mammoth upset.

This win wouldn't mean as much if the bowl years under Mac didn't happen. They did though, and I believe the '98 Cy-Hawk game got it going.

Regionally we were looked at differently after that game.

Much bigger and better wins came after. But the trajectory was forever changed by the Kevin Wilson blocked punt.

Kind of like the Barry Steven's buzzer beater over Mizzou that many say was the day Hilton Magic was born

Weak tavern hawks will squawk no matter what we say. Let em stew. They are especially uptight right now with Campbell being here. Enjoy it.

The game in my eyes that I knew it had officially turned into a winning program was at Oklahoma State in 2000 to go 5-1. Sage to Freshman Lane Danielsen for the winner.

ISU had been beaten - usually soundly - by Iowa for 15 straight seasons and a lot of people on both sides of the rivalry didn't see it ending anytime soon. It had gotten in the heads of Iowa State players and coaches so even mediocre Iowa teams would blossom when playing State and decent Iowa State teams would fold at the first sign of adversity in the game. To get over the hurdle finally took another monkey off the back of the program and you could see in the next few years how that series changed.

Hopefully ISU's victory in Norman last year has a similar effect in that series and it can become competitive.
