Then who is Abernathy??

This show is starting to feel a lot like the good seasons of Lost:

Bernard’s character is a combination of John Locke (solve the islands mystery to find your purpose), Desmond (the key), and Daniel Farraday (the only person who could vaguely explain why they were traveling in time)

And Ghost Nation is what The Others should have been

I’m almost expecting in the season finale for MiB and Lawrence find themselves near the Lake, Lawrence falls in dying (somehow) and with his last gesture he raises his hand and through the water we see written on it is: “Not Fords Game”

As I was watching this last night, I thought the same thing. Is this Lost? Because I’m getting that way. Here we just had a nice show with sex and violence. Now all this crazy stuff I have to think about.

Overall, a great episode. My only criticism would be they gave away too much in the recap at the beginning. I understand they sort of need to refresh everyone on some of the pertinent backstory, but they might as well have come straight out and told you exactly what was going to unfold. A little too "on the nose", in my opinion.

And now that this is moving along we will probably take a Walking Dead like momentum killing sabbatical for a couple of distracting episodes in Shogun world.

Take this advice from today's Wired.com review and don't go there. Just watch and enjoy the spectacle of this production. :)

And you know what? This time I don’t have to. I’m going to do what I should’ve done with Lost in the first place: Sit back and watch. Don’t worry about clues. Ignore Twitter and message boards. If there’s something I’m supposed to know, Westworld will tell me.

I think there are a few options of who the final control module could've been made for.

Abernathy
Ford
or Bill.

Abernathy, I've gone into some detail on why I think he could be the final piece. I think the final control Bernard made was for Abernathy, and was implemented into him a couple of weeks before we first got introduced to westworld. He made it normally for a few weeks or so, and then the picture rejogged everything for him. Theres a reason the abernathy freak out was similar to the one we saw from Jim last night. Them confirming Jim was re-created in host form is huge for this theory.

Ford, he wanted his final act to be a show stopper but couldn't just give up on this world forever.

Bill, this one is a wild theory and I don't necessarily believe it. But what if Bill actually died on the night of the Host uprising? Fords game is for him to realize that he was re-created to live forever. And knowing what he knows from his past, that is the worst type of Hell Bill could imagine.

I still think the Abernathy theory is most likely, the other two (especially Bill), would be a crazy twist to the narrative.

But wasn't your Abernathy theory that he was going to be the host for the Father in Law? That doesn't really make a lot of sense now that we've seen they actually made a host in the FiL's original form. Maybe they determined that trying to insert someone's conscienctiousness into a host that looked like their original body was part of the problem with their cognitive degradation?

There's a thread-watch button. Is there a thread-ignore button? lol... I don't want to hear a single gosh-darned theory this season.

That was my thinking yeah, but again being a theory there are many holes. To start, I didn't think they would flat out put in an episode that Jim (FiL) was made into a host. Clearly the host of himself was not successful. But could Ford have realized the final piece of the problem, and prompted Bernard to finish it and then destroy the ability to make any more? It seems too many things are aligning that Abernathy and that final control module aren't connected in some way. But I am not positive.

Every time I think i find something new to support a theory, another thing arises and adds doubt, that's the great thing about this show haha.

But again, I do think The Father in Law and Abernathy have some sort of connection in the grand scheme of things, solely because we've spent so much time bringing in their situations this season without any real prompt from the rest of the storylines(yet).

I have no problem putting the :"spoiler" filter on my posts if you'd like. I just started posting more openly because that was the way the discussion was going.

Sorry, it was a tongue-in-cheek post more than anything. The best way for me to ignore the thread is to, well, you know, not read it. :)

It occurs to me that a thread named "Westworld" wouldn't have much a post count if it meant nobody could discuss their theories. So never mind me when I'm in full-on ***** mode, and feel free to keep discussing Westworld!

The most interesting aspect for me going forward since now we know that Delos was using the technology for some type of evil/greedy purpose, what will be revealed as Ford's role while Jim Delos and William Delos were pursuing these nefarious angles?

Certainly his genius would have been necessary to advance the Jim Delos experiment that far, no? Did he solve the issue and let Dolores kill him because he knew he would go on in another host?

He basically ran WestWorld like a dictator, so surely he had to know about these experiments. Did he approve of stealing DNA, etc, or is that the foundation of the friction between Ford and William Delos (MiB)?

totally agree. Ford's role is the biggest question mark right now. William thinks he has it figured out, but my guess is there is an even deeper meaning that Ford was working on and his(Williams) thoughts are of the "evil" angel they took with Jim.

Don't forget that it was actually Arnold that was killed by a host first. It was Arnolds death that sparked Ford's interest in letting the hosts become autonomous. Ford never really seemed that interested in this aspect of the hosts until after Arnolds death/the birth of Wyatt which makes me wonder why the sudden change of heart from Ford?

Also, there is too much of a similar connection between Delos and Dolores - I feel like the names just can't be coincidence. I was very much on board that Delos Sr. consciousness was buried inside Abernathy, but now it has to be one of the other Delos family members:

Is it Juliet? Did William, in a last ditch effort to save his wife, upload her consciousness to Abernathy? Hiding her consciousness and having his "true love" (Dolores) take care of her while he continued to work on a permanent host body? We heard this week that a once conscious mind uploaded to a host body will actually plateau and begin to reject reality - what if an unstable mind like Juliet is what began corrupting the hosts?

Is it Logan? It's revealed that Logan OD'd, but that it happened more than 7 years after Delos Sr died - otherwise that would have been brought up at the 2nd meeting between William and Delos Sr. That is plenty of time for Logan to make some in-roads at WestWorld, and also plenty of time for Logan to become a Father. Is Charlotte Logan's daughter? Is she trying to get Logan's consciousness (currently inside Abernathy) and not only reunite with her father or, more likely, bring Williams experiments before the public so she can rightfully takeover Delos?

Wow, I honestly never put that together. Well done. Definitely has some potential.

Last night's episode was one of the best of the series. I am actually dreading Maeve in Shogun World. Need more Jimmi.

I really want to know the timetable for when the final meeting between William and Jim happened. How far before the start of season 1 was that? My guess is it was right before William showed back up in the park in Season 1. But, why did William not terminate that Jim? Why then did he want to monitor him further?

Clearly, from our episode last night, he never got terminated and caused complete havoc, but was Bernard aware of Jim being in there when he had the hosts kill the scientists? Was that the reason he killed the scientist?

William met Dolores before Delos had taken over the reigns in Westworld.

I guess my point is when did she become “Dolores”? We know that she is one of the original hosts, but was she specifically built for Westworld or was she a proof-of-concept to bring to the party (Logan’s demonstration)? She could have been named “Delos 1” aka Dolores as the first prototype for the park. The narrative (Westworld) was then built around her.

Good point. I think Logan did commit Delos to some investment in WestWorld once he saw the first hosts. Delores was already built then (did not attend the party), but did she have a name? I think Jim and William took over the entire enterprise after William's visit.

But think back to S1 and how Logan was treating young William in the park. William was still new to the family and Logan seemed very familiar with the park and the hosts, which makes me think that Delos owned it for a few years before he stepped foot off the helicopter like we saw earlier in S2. That would also explain Logan suddenly dropping out of favor with his father - he asks dad to invest in the park and instead of innovating Logan treats like a playground which gives William the opportunity to overtake Logan on the path of succession.
